My Experience

I previously worked at a full time boarding school for children with severe special needs where I used my fluency in sign language to aid children. Conditions I have worked with include Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Chromosome disorders and multiple or complex disabilities. I love working with children and enjoy making progress and working towards their goals however small.

I currently buddy a special needs teenager and look after children from 1-13. I can provide references from my current clients and would be happy to come and meet a family prior to Babysitting.

Previously I have worked within the police in varying roles and I am currently working towards becoming and interpreter for the Deaf.

Mary has been our son George’s learning Support Assistant in School for the last two and a half years and also supports us at home, looking after George regularly and also accompanying us on activities etc. Recently Mary has also supported us in night sitting duties with George.
Mary has supported George to achieve a level of potential at school and home that we never thought we would see. George has improved in all of his cognitive and physical targets with Mary’s support. She has such as broad depth of knowledge and problem solving skills to support children with special needs and we are so very lucky to have had her in George’s life.
Mary has supported George with all of his learning and in forming strong relationships with his peers, play interaction, swimming, forest schools and in virtual learning. Mary has recognised George’s likes and used them to help develop his skills e.g. developing quizzes based on the Who Wants to be a Millionaire format or the Chase.
Mary has also supported George with his many sensory challenges and he has developed a wide range of coping and accepting techniques with her help. George has learned to face many of his fears and cope with his emotions in a more manageable way and Mary has helped him to understand his feelings.
Mary has enabled us to have some respite and helped us to engage with other activities together. Mary’s kindness, empathy and patience has really brought the best out in George. She has also been able to work well with his professional health and care team and has advocated for George on many occasions at meetings and one to one
Mary is an amazing LSA and Personal Assistant and would be such an asset to any educational or family setting. She will always be a much loved part of our family"

My Availability

Evenings and weekends. Full time during school holidays. Possibly before / after school.
