My Summary
About Me
Hello, i'm Alannis (27) and i live in Whitehall, Bristol.
I'm a very fun, friendly and caring person who loves exploring and adventuring outdoors. I'm also super creative and really enjoy getting messy with all different kinds of arts and crafts activities.
I have nearly 10 years experience working with different ages in a nursery environment as well as baby sitting and volunteering. I’m currently working as a baby room leader in a local nursery.
I am looking to come out of a private setting and enjoy being out in the community a bit more. Wanting to become part of a loving, energetic family in need of reliable and secure childcare.
My Experience
I am qualified as an Early Years Practitioner at levels 2 & 3.
I began my Early Years journey as an apprentice and worked in a Montessori Nursery for 3 years with children of various ages. In my first year i worked with ages 2-3 where i was responsible for promoting and encouraging independence by helping with health and self-care skills such as potty training, hand washing and learning how to dress themselves.
I then spent two years working in the pre-school room with children aged 3/4. In this room i had a huge responsibility in preparing them for school by teaching them numbers, letters and how to recognise and write their own names.
Upon finishing my Early Years Educator level 3 apprenticeship, I began working in another nursery just outside of Bristol working with ages 18 months to 30 months. I quickly progressed from practitioner, to senior, to room leader. As room leader I was responsible for many things as a room leader including a register of 42 children and a team of 8 women. I knew each child personally and individually from their current development, their necessary next steps, their allergies and preferences to even the small things such as who’s coats are who’s, what shoes they wear and who sleeps with a dummy or a special teddy.
I now am part of a strong senior team as well as managing a baby room at a local nursery in east Bristol.
I have also worked in a reception class as well as volunteered in a local after school club carrying out activities with children aged between 4 and 11.
Working in a Montessori has made me realise the importance of independence for the child and i think it’s crucial for all areas of development that children are encouraged to play freely, make their own decisions and discover new, exciting things at their own pace.

Alannis looked after my child at nursery for a year, and was absolutely brilliant. My child was really shy before starting nursery, and Alannis really helped him to grow in confidence. She has always been really professional, reliable and friendly. From speaking to other children’s parents they have all echoed my thoughts, and said how often she creates fun educational activities, going above and beyond what we’d expect of an Early Years Practitioner! My child really loved being in Alannis’s care, and speaks about her a lot.
Alannis left us without childcare options two weeks before we were due to have her take over as our nanny. We had agreed the rate which she has advertised on her profile here (£11/hr gross) plus additional paid leave (beyond statutory) and expenses, and gone through all of the formalities which were given and agreed in writing on the 20th of January. However, when we presented her with the (template standard) contract, rather than phone us to discuss any concerns, she sent us a dismissive email which gave no room for any recourse. If she didn’t want the job she should have been open and honest and just said so, instead of stringing us along for months.
