About Me

Hi, my name is Georgia, I'm a 31 year old qualified teacher in St Werbiurghs who loves to work with children in a wide range of settings. During 2015-2017 I trained and worked as a primary school teacher with the Charity TeachFirst but since decided that I prefer to work with children one on one or in small groups so that I can offer more enriching activities and support their interests, needs and development attentively.

Prior to teaching my current work supply teaching, I had been working 1:1 with a teenager with significant SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). I personalised the national curriculum to my student's interests and re-pitch delivery of the national curriculum as well as holding interventions in essential life skills and collaborating with speech and language therapists.

I became a playworker, then manager, of a play centre in St Werburghs and had organised private tutoring for a child with SEND needs. I have since have worked closely with a family and their child (7-9years) for 2 years, during this time I volunteered at Bristol Steiner School, offered personalised private tuition including specialised support for Dyslexia, took him on trips abroad and gained a Chaperone licence to safeguard children in the entertainment industry.

I arranged and supported enriching activities from trips to libraries, museums, Art clubs and liaised with school teachers and SEN support sessions. I can tailor enriching activities to your child's interests, age and family dynamics. I have experience with children from 1 years to 11 and am keenly learning about early child development, I predominantly taught ( as a primary school teacher) ages 6-8, however have experience across the curriculum, as well as guiding Nessy (dyslexia programme), supporting a range of interventions like Read Write Ink, to social emotional systems like Thrive.

My style is child-centered, creative and explorative learning in which a child develops trusting relationships, positive mental health and freedom of expression. I love to foster joy of reading and am keen to instill confidence in young persons abilities and limitless potential to explore new learning.

I had since have been accepted onto the Tavistock and Portman's M7 'Working with young person's and their families: an observational, psycho-analytic approach' yet have this partime position is deferred for at least one academic year. This course provides a pre-clinical training to become a Child and Adolescent Psychoans,alytic Psychotherapist. NB this was due to start during the pandemic and continues to be of interest but is on hold after moving house and other life changes,

As well as childcare and child development, I am passionate about arts and crafts, playing the piano, forest schools, reading and animal care. I have a 1 year old puppy which I am keen to include in my work as a therapy dog if that is something you are interested in please let me know for more information. I also love to spend time fostering quality relationships with my 7 nephews (aged 0-7) and am more than happy to offer animal care and other household help.

I believe that children should be offered rich play environments where their diverse interests can be guided and developed. I would encourage your child/ren to feel cared for, emotionally understood and that their keen interests are valued and nurtured. I am creative, responsible and not least a big kid at heart who is waiting to tap into children's play whilst maintaining positive boundaries, promoting healthy relationships and respecting family life.
