My Summary
About Me
My name is Kate Satoor. I am 52 and live in a cottage in a quiet part of Ford, with my husband, three children (22, 20 and 17) and our dogs. We have 1.5 acres of garden to play in and explore. The children play in our new purpose built cabins set up with toys, play equipment, books etc. We spend a lot of our time outside in the garden set up for water and sand play, messy play, ride ons, play house, large play equipment etc. We work on little topics to extend your child's experiences. We have just finished a topic on minibeasts and had a bee keeper come to visit us. In Autumn we are going to be looking at Letters, The Jolly Postman and have a visit from our postman.
When I went back to work after having my first child, I wanted a caring, loving environment for my child where a home from home experience was offered. It was a big decision and I wanted to get it right. I remember this now and offer your child exactly what I wanted to find. We play at home, go to the park, visit the shops, library, go on pic nics, walks etc and enjoy meeting others at toddler groups. We encourage the children to develop their independence by choosing their own activities and following their own interests. We are happy to support your feeding and sleep routines. We use an online system to keep a record of your child's learning development and plan activities to support and extend your child's learning. We also write a daily diary describing your child’s day so you are kept up to date. As it is a small setting we are always there for you if you have any worries or questions.
Our setting is ideal for your child as it gives you the best of both a childminder and a nursery, we are home based and small enough to know each and every child really well and respond to your child’s individual needs but big enough to provide your child with several friends of a same age and prepare your child for school.
We provide locally sourced, healthy, home cooked food and snacks or you can provide your own food if you prefer. The children love to help us cook the food too.
My before and after children enjoy playing with my own children and enjoy being with the little ones too. There is something for everyone, a treehouse, climbing trees and hide and seek, TV, craft activities, cooking, board games etc. We can provide breakfast or tea if needed. I currently pick up from Bicton Primary and Trinity Primary in Ford.
I have been rated as offering "outstanding" childcare in my last five Ofsted inspections, the most recent in July 2022.
My Experience
I am a primary school teacher by profession. I graduated in 1993 and have had the privalege of working with children aged 5 to 11, both in this country and in SE Asia. Since having my own children I have enjoyed working from home as a childminder developing my practice with the Early Years age group as well as continuing my work with older children before and after school. I have experience of working with children with special needs and children for whom English is a second language. I have also cared for children with specific medical and dietary needs. I have always been very interested in language development and have used sing and sign with the children to aid communication. I have completed my advanced Makaton training (signing) to help all children with developing their speech.
I make use of the great training opportunities with Shropshire Council, being up to date with first aid, food hygiene, risk assessment, child protection as well as extras which extend my work e.g. Outdoor play, positive behaviour management, movement, risk assessment in play, Eat a Better Move More, Solihull Approach, Prevent Duty etc etc.
Before moving to Shropshire in 2010 we were foster carers for 10 years working with children from 2 to 17 which we found very rewarding.
I work with my husband and two assistants to provide care for between 12 and 15 early years children a day.

Kate is more than a childminder. She teaches, laughs and enjoys being with the children. My two daughters are brilliantly cared for, as well as being cleverly educated and immersed within her lovely family.
Ford is not far from Shrewsbury, where I live, and it is really worth the trip. Large garden, lots of outside play, regular cooking / making . messing sessions and a very friendly dog.
I feel very happy dropping off at Kate' s house and the regular updates on daily journal and Orbit are really good.

Kate's excellent Ofsted rating precedes her - she is a fantastic childminder. My son absolutely adores her and is so happy to attend. There's always plenty going on and I love being able to see what he's up to with her regular updates through 'Orbit' which get pinged to my email. He comes home happy, well fed and full of chatter. Her house and garden are a child's paradise. I couldn't be more pleased with the service she provides. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
