My Summary
About Me
I’m Eilidh, I’m 25 and I am experienced, qualified and registered in childcare. I am outgoing, enthusiastic and love working with children. I love being outside, crafting, sewing, history, gardening, music and cooking. I am also passionate about exploring these things with children and young people and connecting with them over their interests. I really value the voice and autonomy of children and young people and this informs my approach to working with them which I find particularly helpful for supporting boundaries and regulation, especially in neurodivergent children.
I recently finished with my job in anticipation of beginning a Masters in the Autumn and I am hoping to enjoy some babysitting/private childcare over the summer holidays, although I am also available during term-time.
I used to study performance and I also work freelance in creative jobs doing modelling, styling, production design and creative direction, mostly in the music industry. I find it really rewarding to work creatively with children and enjoy engaging in imaginative play.
I am LGBTQIA+ and disability friendly, and I am fully vaccinated.
My Experience
I was a playwork practitioner at Notre Dame Kids Club for seven years. This involved a combination of child-led play and designing activities and engagement opportunities for children aged 4-11.
In March 2024 I began working for East Renfrewshire Council's educational psychology service, providing neurodevelopmental support work for young people up to the age of 16 who had stopped attending school due to Emotionally Based School Avoidance. This involved working 1-1 and with family members at home, school, a dedicated enhanced nurture space and within the community. Most of my caseload were autistic with high support needs, many of them had significant mental health challenges, trauma and also PDA profiles so I am well experienced with supporting and connecting with children and young people who are managing these. I also carried out sleep counselling and a family support group as part of this role.
I would also be open to tutoring, although this would be best discussed beforehand to make sure I would have the right understanding of the concepts your child needs support with before committing to it. From my experience volunteering as a classroom assistant at Notre Dame Primary School I would be confident tutoring at Primary level. My experience with the Education Department supporting young people to access education involved working towards literacy and numeracy outcomes at National 4 and I also volunteered supporting dyslexic S1 pupils with their literacy.
I have also worked providing private childcare with various families, including overnight stays.
I have completed a variety of trainings and CPD listed in the qualification section.
I have worked doing drama, craft, cooking, and outdoor workshops for kids. I have studied at level 2 British Sign Language, although I would not be confident communicating solely with BSL.
