My Summary
About Me
-Experienced Private Midwife
-Offers Maternity Nursing
-Elder Care & Short Notice Babysitting
-Band 6 Midwife in NHS for 9 years.
-Available for live in or out roles.
-Willing to travel within UK
I am a very experienced care giver and a mother to four children aged 18 to 30. Now I am also a happy grandmother to 6 young girls.
I loved my midwifery career and this gave me excellent skills in mothering mothers, supporting them with breast or bottle feeding, nurturing their newborns and giving them time to sleep or relax.
I am available Postnatally or Antenatally and offer support during pregnancy or birth (as a Doula.)
Trained in Parent Ed & Baby Massage
Qualified in 2016 as an Angelic Reiki Practitioner & Master Teacher; so mothers will get unique holistic care or treatments from myself.
Home, Water & Active Birth Advocate.
Now my children are all adults, I have more time to offer. I am very passionate about my work and enjoy teaching private antenatal classes and travelling, meeting clients and their families.
I enjoy writing poetry and singing, my personality can be chatty but I am also a fantastic listener.
I love the outdoors and enjoy cooking international dishes and cleaning other people's homes.
I am registered with the; Nursing and Midwifery Council & Royal College of Midwives.
I am also a member of the Association of Radical Midwives & I am a qualified 'BFN' Breastfeeding Network Supporter.
2004 BSc(Hons) 2:1 , London,
City University & St Bartholomews School of Nursing and Midwifery.
2004 to 2017 Royal London Hospital
Band 6 Midwife
In 2017 I resigned from my NHS role as a Band 6 Midwife to relocate back to the north east after living in London from aged 16. I started private Maternity Nursing or Night Nannie Roles. I
I enjoy listening to women and supporting them to make informed choices about childbirth and breastfeeding which is much more rewarding than all the paper work in the NHS..
I enjoy getting to know my clients, listening and adapting to their needs.
Being a caseload or private midwife, I feel very priveleged, its a rewarding career and there is often a more positive outcome and experience for the parents with the continuity of a familiar carer.
Through CPD, Continuous professional Development; I update my skills regularly in first aid, resucitation, and safe guarding children & adults.
I have recently been studying mindfulness, meditation and how to have a calmer birth and baby.
Additionally I am often updating & adding to the wealth of modules regarding childcare & development, disabilities, mothers health, nutrition, health and hygiene to complement my working.
As a live in Maternity Nurse I can help with household chores or cooking etc. But my primary focus is on the mother and baby(s). Making her recovery from birthing comfortable and safe and helping her stay hydrated and eat healthy.
Also helping her establish a good routine tailored around the need of the parents. I aim to help babies develop and gain weight. Also assisting in babies sleeping routines and with mothers breastfeeding. If they choose to breasttfeed I can help this become established or if mothers wish to express or formula feed I will be there to support, help or give advice.
Primarily I am of assistance to create and facilitate a safe place for baby to grow and mothers to heal. Aiming for serenity & calm, I assist in helping mothers discuss fears or concerns around SIDS cot death etc, I am also able to be on call 24 hours if needed in early days when coming home from hospital.
Support from a maternity nurse can often reduce the likelyhood of postnatal depression. My passion is mothering the mothers so they can feel empowered and confident to do what they want to do... and being there to listen or advise if asked!
My Experience
Before Midwifery, I worked in Holloway Prison as a charity worker for Birth Companions in the mother and baby unit as well as the hospital. We would give birth support to women in custody and attend births. I enjoyed the diversity and challenge of this role.
I have also volunteered and cared for the elderly as a befriender for Age Concern Charity. This was a starting point for me before going back into education after mothering.
Prior to being a midwife I worked as a doula for a few years and I spend lots of time helping mother's look after their children. Additionally I've worked as a carer for a disabled lady, also assisting in the care of her challenging teen son with autism. I Iearnt about different disabilities such as autism and ADHD.
As a doula before midwifery and also again quite recently, I developed lots of experience when working with mothers and their families, I enjoy helping the mother with cleaning, cooking or other children at times. Especially when doing home births.
Additionally I worked for a Sure Start program National NEWPIN, this was wonderful starting point for me I started working as a befriender for this charity assisting women with risk of postnatal depression or antenatal depression I found this very rewarding.
Most recent experience was a live in position for three months to help a new mother with her newborn. This was very rewarding experience as I would care for the baby for 12 hours over night. Helping mother at her request and living in is great as I am there for the family if an issue may arise in the day. I find it a great privilege as a Maternity Nurse im assisting in the health and growth of the baby and the healing of the mother.
I'm easy to get along with and as a lover of the outdoors countryside rural locations are not a problem.

Thanks You Susannah
Very reliable and friendly lady. We were looking for a babysitter that we could depend on at short notice as well and Lisa also fits the bill.
Lisa is a bright and knowledgeable person and very easy to get on with. Would not hesitate to use her again.
