About Me
Hi My name is Andrea, I have been a registered childminder for over 20 years. I live in Harold Wood. I drop and collect from Broadford Primary School only. Ofsted graded Good.
We live only a short walk from Harold Wood station close to the 498, 294 and 256 bus stops.
My home is a non-smoking environment and we have a family dog who was 13 in September, he is a Boarder Collie cross so slightly smaller then a full Collie. All the children enjoy helping to care for the dog, feeding, training and taking him for walks. Helping to care for the dog covers many areas of learning within the EYFS.
I have a good sized, well equipped play room and an enclosed garden for outside play with a patio and decked area for all weather outside play. I have a weatherproof gazebo to protect the children come rain or shine so they can enjoy the open air when they want to. I have a large kitchen where all the children enjoy sitting and eating together at the table and also using the area for messy play and arts and crafts.
I include the children's meals in my service and the children get the opportunity to help grow and pick some of the fruit and vegetables that they eat from my allotment.
Outside of Covid restricted times :-
During term time I try to attend childminder drop-ins/ mums and tots at least twice a week and also go to local parks country parks and open areas, city farms and the zoo for days out which the children love . During the school holidays the children enjoy trips to the beach, parks, museums, zoos, castles and walks in the countryside. My aim is that the children have a fantastic experience in the holidays and memories they will remember for the rest of their lives. I have had parents ask if they can change places with their children - the talking point at work being where the children are going today.
During Covid :-
we have utilised the garden more and taken local walks and trips to the local country parks when able. Peppa pig would have been proud of our puddle jumping antics this winter. As we can't get out to mum's and tots and messy play I have increased the amout we do here and we have still joined one of our groups over zoom for a group song time session which the children enjoy still seeing other leaders, parents and children that they know.

I have been a childminder for over 20 years and a member of the Havering childminding network and the Havering Childminding Association. I regularly attend childminder training sessions.

Our son was with Andy from 11 months to 1 year old. Knew as soon as we met Andy that she was highly experienced and gave so much of herself to the children she cares for. I actually dont know what we would have done without her - we and our son miss her and the other children a lot since we moved away recently.
Things we love about Andy:
- Switched on, smart and very experienced with looking after multiple small children and the most lovely doggy
- Is totally dedicated to the kids and we trusted her 100%
- Regular/consistent updates on what the children were up to that day, what they have eaten, nappies, sleeps etc.
- Flexible with pick up and drop off
- Gives her charges a WONDERFUL experience of the outdoors. I cannot count the number of brilliant experiences our boy had, from museums, to city farms and zoos, regular play groups and activities at home. It really was such a boost to know our child was exposed to so many different activities. His language skills developed rapidly and at two, his conversation skills are very impressive!
- Very flexible and suportive during the time of our move, even though she had to say goodbye to our little guy. Always helpful to the end.
- Teaches the children about food, consistent in teaching them good eating habits and how to actually sit down at a table :)
- We got to know Andy as a person too and this was so important as first time parents. We could ask her anything and she gave sound advice around our childs needs.
We would highly recommend Andy as a childminder and only we moved away, we would still be with her.

Over the years I have used a number of childminders and nurseries and can honestly say I have never had a setting as good as Andreas. She is definitely worth the money. The children are always doing something different and interesting. They are well fed and looked after. Andrea bent over backwards to help me and always went the extra mile. We only left the setting due to moving towns. My children love her and will miss her loads. Thank you for all your work.
