My Summary
About Me
I am currently working in a school as a 1-1 teaching assistant with reception/year 1 children and studying a post graduate diploma course in Play Therapy. I am also an accredited therapeutic play practitioner.
I completed my degree in Early Years education in 2019 and I absolutely love working with children, watching them learn and grow as individuals. I particularly enjoy nannying as it provides an opportunity to really get to know the children and provide unique and exciting experiences specific to their own interests.
I enjoy exploring the outdoors, rain or shine, and absolutely love animals! I love getting creative and doing arts and crafts with children, letting them explore their senses and make some mess!
My Experience
March 2022- Present: 1-1 teaching assistant with reception/year 1 children.
August 2023: Summer holiday nanny for 8, 10 and 12 Year old - going on day trips and finding fun activities to do whilst they were on their school break.
October 2020- August 2022: Nanny for 3 year old.
August 2020-March 2022:
I worked as a nanny caring for children ages 4 and 5 (2&4 when I started). This involved school/nursery drop offs and pick up, cooking, homework, play, bath time and bed time.
September 2019- July 2020: I worked as an Early Years Educator in the Toddler room with ages 2-3 years. I worked closely as part of a team within this role which is essential to ensure the daily routine runs smoothly and the children are given the best support and care possible. I was a key person for 8 children, which involved working closely with these individuals and their families, building bonds, tracking their development and supporting their personal interests and needs. I also worked within the baby room (9months- 2years) and Pre-school room (3-4 years) when needed and therefore have expanded my knowledge of these age group also.
Key responsibilities:
• Building strong attachments with children and their families
• Following individual interests.
• Supporting children settle within the setting and separate from parents
• Tracking development
• Play
• Outdoor activities
• Changing nappies
• Food Preparation
• Nap Time
• Plan and run art activities
• Supported the nativity performances and rehearsals
• Supporting subject specific classes - Music, Art and PE.
2015 - 2019 Nanny - I have cared for 2 young children aged 2 and 4 on a weekly basis for several years now (now aged 5&7). This is a very rewarding experience that I thoroughly enjoy and which cemented my career path. My tasks involve collecting the girls from nursery/school, arranging activities, indoors and out, taking them out on trips, preparing their meals, bath-time and then putting them to bed, after the much-enjoyed story time.
2018- 2019 - Nanny - I cared for 2 children aged 9 months and 3 years old. This involved, taking them out for day trips whilst also keeping their routines, nap time/bed time, lunch and dinner preparation, light house work, story time, playing, arts and crafts and baking. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these children grow and develop over the time I worked for this family but also building such strong relationship with the children.
2016: I worked as an assistant in a Playgroup on a short-term contract for 6 months. Again, a hugely rewarding job, supporting a class of sixteen 3 and 4 year olds, in their learning, development and play. A daily session consisted of: circle time, indoor play using: paint, sand, Lego, puzzles, musical instruments and role play. Followed by snack time in which I helped the children to prepare their own food and drink, afternoon/outdoor play when we did walks, gardening and play on the climbing frame and bikes and trikes.
2016 & 2018 Primary School volunteer work experience and placement - working with the Reception, Year One and year 2 students ensuring they felt happy and secure and remained engaged in the activities. I worked in a variety of situations from one to one, small groups and whole class engagement, as well as helping to develop their indoor and outdoor space through; tidying, creating display boards, organising shelves and cupboards and gardening.
2013 - Present: Baby-sitting for various families, including my cousins two boys aged 10 and 13 and two girls aged 10 and 7 and local families.
2012-2014: For 2 years as part of my sport taekwondo I taught a small class of 4-7 year olds the basics of the martial art which also included necessary life safety such as learning their phone numbers and what to do in an emergency.
