My Summary
About Me
I am a highly experienced, degree qualified maternity nurse, paediatric sleep consultant and parent educator with a BSc (First Class Hons) in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Bristol. I went on to obtain a post-graduate qualification in law before practising as a family lawyer in a top city firm from 2003. After 10 years in law, I left to care for my three children full time.
I have particular expertise in overnight care for newborns, assessing their sleep patterns and enabling parents to develop routines for their babies that do not follow the ‘one size fits all’ approach. At the same time, whilst I take full responsibility for baby’s care, parents are able to get a much needed night’s sleep. I am a certified Paediatric Sleep Practitioner, which enables me to assess your baby or child and create a sleep training program for you to follow to help your child to sleep soundly through the night.
In my role as a newborn consultant, I give parents the support that they need to gain confidence in caring for their newborn. From the day parents arrive home from hospital with their newborn, I am on hand to provide gentle, practical advice and for the subsequent four weeks, to be available for any questions or concerns that may arise. I also provide ad hoc daytime care, particularly when parents need help to guide their newborn into a gentle daytime routine, which they can continue to follow.
I am fully booked for maternity nursing until the end of December 2023.
My Experience
I have extensive experience with newborns through to pre-school aged children. My expertise lies in day and overnight care of young babies and children and particularly enabling babies to gently progress towards a full night’s sleep. I am trained by MIND in supporting parents with perinatal mental health issues and I facilitate the ‘Mindful Mums’ support group once a week. I am also specialised in caring for babies with reflux, colic and cow’s milk allergies/lactose intolerance, helping to identify issues early and providing support and guidance to alleviate discomfort and enable sleep .
