About Us

Wollaston & Strixton Pre-School was established in 1966. We are a community pre-school which is run by a Voluntary Management Committee of elected parents / carers.

The day to day running of the pre-school sessions and the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is delegated to our setting Manager, Kerry Gay.

We provide a friendly and caring environment in which we strive to meet the individual needs of the children. Our session planning is driven by the interests and needs of the children so as to make learning fun but at the same time challenging.

Besides helping the children work towards the Early Years Foundation Stage goals, we also place great emphasis on developing the self-esteem, resilience confidence, language and communication skills of the children.

We encourage parents / carers to be involved with their children’s early education through inviting them to attend sessions, help with activities and by completing their own observations on our online journals. Please talk to a member of staff if you would like to attend any session.

We are very proud of our latest Ofsted inspection which took place in September 2017 and we were awarded an overall status of ‘Good’. Our full Ofsted report can be viewed or a printed version can be supplied by our Pre-School staff. We are always looking for ways to improve the effectiveness of our childcare provision and are acting on the suggestions Ofsted have made.

Breakfast Club - 8am till 9am (Monday to Friday) £4.50
Preschool session 9am till 2pm (Monday to Friday) £26.00
Afternoon short Preschool session - 2pm till 3.30 pm (Monday to Friday) £7.50
Afternoon long Preschool session (Monday to Thursday) £11.00
Friday afternoon session 2pm till 5pm £11.00

As we are registered with Ofsted we are able to offer funded places to children the term starting after their 3rd birthday. We also offer 2 year funding and are able to provide up to 30 hours of the 30 hours funding. Please ask our staff for further details.
We are also members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

INTRODUCTION TO OUR BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

The Sunrise and Sunset Before and After School Club was established in September 2010 to provide out of school childcare for the parents of Wollaston Community Primary School. We are managed by Wollaston and Strixton Pre-School which is a community Pre-School run by a Voluntary Management Committee of elected parents / carers.

We provide a friendly, safe and caring environment for children from 4 years to 11 years of age where we strive to meet the individual needs of the children by providing age appropriate activities.

The day to day running of the Sunrise and Sunset sessions is delegated to our Supervisor Grace Henson & Managed by Kerry Gay. Our sessions are planned and driven by the interests of the children to ensure they feel at ease in the club and enjoy the time they spend with us.

Besides providing a fun club for your children to go to, we place great emphasis on developing self-esteem, confidence, language and communication skills. For children in Reception, we plan activities around the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to help continue the learning they receive in school.

Wollaston and Strixton Pre-School’s last Ofsted inspection in November 2017 gave us an overall rating of ‘good’ which we are very proud of and we hope that this can also be applied to the Sunrise and Sunset Club too.
