About Me
Hi, my name is Rachael and I have been an OFSTED registered childminder for 27 years. I am a member of childcare.co.uk and have my public liability insurance with them. I do have a DBS check but because I’ve childminded for so long paper DBS forms were not issued back then.
I am married and I have 3 children. My son is 33, my stepdaughter is 32, my youngest daughter is 21years old. All have left home. I have 2 cats called Smokey and Milo and a schnoodle dog called Jax, all of them are gentle. I have three grandchildren.
I have lots of toys and equipment and resources that are age appropriate. I have an enclosed garden that has a slide, see saw and ride in cars ,a two storey wooden playhouse. etc. too many toys to list.
Children that I look after get home from home care, which is both stimulating and fun.
I deliver the EYFS ( Early Years Foundation Stage) to all children aged 0-5 in my care, with each child under a year having their own daily diary. I work the same as preschool, nursery and school. Parents are sent updates and pictures regarding their child regularly through WhatsApp. Which parents love.
My Experience
Before I became a childminder I worked for 9 years for the local Health Authority as a DSA ( Dental Surgery Assisstant) which involved running my own surgery, going into schools for dental inspections or visiting special needs schools in the area teaching oral hygiene.
My chilldminding experience has enabled me to have the privilage of looking after babies from 8 weeks old but also the satisfaction you get from older children up to the age of 8 years.
My Qualifications
I have many certificates but the very important ones are Paediatric First Aid and Safe Guarding Children ,food and hygiene . I also have letters and sounds, makaton , a positive approach to behaviour and have attended 3 courses for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) training. I have also attended courses for Observation and assessment, Expectations of Behaviour, fire safety in the home, food allergy and Channel General awareness, CAF ( Common Assessment Framework), , Working in Partnership with Parents and Communicating Matters to name just a few. I have done so many I can’t write them all down but I’m constantly doing new courses or webinars to get certificates to better myself and my setting.m
I am pleased to say my most recent OFSTED report was graded GOOD again for every catagory.
My Availability
I am available Monday - Thursday 7.00am- 5.00pm .Fridays 7am - 4pm.
I try to be flexible depending on family commitments. (There is an extra charge for early start, later finish.)
I drop off and pick up at Brandon Preschool morning sessions and I can drop off and pick up mornings at the nursery, also general before and after school.

My Fees
- Childminding from £4.50 per hour
I am currently charging £4.50 per hr .
I give a slight discount of £1 off if I am looking after more than one child from the same family.
I have Sessional rates for those only wanting before and after school or minimum hours.
My Local Schools
- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Forest Academy
