About Me
I currently work at a nurseryin Uppingham as an Early Years Practitioner. Over the last six years I have worked closely with children ranging from 9 months to 9 years. I have recently finished my BA HONS degree at Pen Green Research Centre in Corby.
My Requirements
Over the last six years I have worked closely with children ranging from 9 months to 9 years. I believe that a good quality childcare is very important, as the children become involved in daily routines, they will see the connections between home and nursery in a friendly and supporting way. Working in a team and communication is especially crutial in this role, we have regular team meetings, training days with team building activities.
I am part of the management team, I complete daily opening and closing checks at the nursery, this is suitable to be used to ensure physical health and wellbeing in a childcare setting. This ensures that no areas can be forgotten or overlooked. I organise taster sessions with parents, for the children to come in with their parents and view the nursery. This includes having a conversation with the parents about the childs home life, family history, child's health and emotional development. As going into a setting can be quite daunting for a child, I ensure that the child has a smooth transition and am there to support them whilst working closely with the parents.
I organise the play environment so that it is indirectly structured. Using characteristics of effective learning for each child so that activities are designed for purposeful play. Paying careful attention to the organisation of materials, so that they are accessable to the children. I provide adult lead activities everyday. Through these activities I can introduce children to new ideas, provide opportunities for them to develop their skills, and ensure that they experience all areas of learning. I’ve encouraged the children to learn and develop at their own level, so that they gain confidence of self-importance. I have knowledge and support children with additional needs and help create reports to support those children. I regularily create reports and support plans for children with a vast variety of needs and then put that into practice around the work place.
My Daily routine consists of -
Supporting children at their level following their interests through the EYFS.
Supporting children with SENCO needs.
Monitoring the children’s health and safety and recording any concerns.
Supporting their mental and physical wellbeing.
Organising consistent daily routine.
Supporting children's development, such as providing activities that develop their understanding of the world and help them learn new skills.
Attend staff training days and monthly staff meetings.
Creating positive, strong relationships with the children and their families.
Organising regular parent’s evenings to discuss their child’s progression and development, then together adding next steps for the following term.
Assessing the children and recording their development through the EYFS
Completing formative assessments every three months.
During my BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts, we had to carry out interactive workshops with young children. This involved creating, performing and interacting with the children during the performance. I supported over 30 children.
