About Me
Hi, my name is Gemma and I am an Ofsted registered childminder serving families in the coulsdon/ old coulsdon area. I live in a detached home with a spacious garden on a quiet road allowing easy parking for drop offs and pick ups. I live with my husband and our 3 children aged 10, 7 and 6.
My home is well equipped with a variety of resources to support a child’s development as well as being a calm and welcoming environment. I want all the children in my care to feel confident and secure in my home. I encourage independence from a young age to make children active and resilient learner’s .
I have over 7 years experience of working in the early years sector. My experience stems from being a childminding assistant and managing a preschool. These roles have given me a wealth of experience and knowledge in this field.
I am really keen to focus on providing experiences and outings as a regular part of my curriculum . I firmly believe many children thrive by exploring and helps make them more curious learners.
I regularly undertake safeguarding training and I am paediatric first aid qualified. I also have a DBS check dated within the last 3 months and I am on the update service.
I would describe myself as a trustworthy, friendly and calm individiual. My children are my world so I understand all parents feel the same. I understand the importance of having a trusted adult caring for your child.

My Experience
My own three children !!
Pre school manager - level 3 qualified. 2020-2023.
My duties included:
- ensuring children have allocated key workers and monitor their next steps and progression
- contact early years / speech and language/ early help if children needed support in areas. Work alongside these teams to support the child’s needs.
- ensure the setting was risk assessed daily
- ensuring all paperwork was up to date and filed safely and organised
- support staff with their training and development (this would be done via supervisions)
- attend meetings about changes to the EYFS that would impact our setting
- make sure that all safeguarding procedures were adhered too and recorded correctly. I also had to make sure staff were regularly updated on their training
- structure the curriculum and make sure that the setting was engaging and had good resources that supported the children’s learning
- ensure all fire procedures/ first aid books:kit were adhered to.
- prepare children well for school transitions and liaise with new teachers.
- ensure all 2 year checks were completed
- make sure all children’s needs and care needs were being met daily
-I have safeguarding DSL training which I did in 2023.
Childminding assistant ( 2016-2019). This job was based at a childminders setting. My role consisted of; setting up activities for the children. Helping them with their self care and toileting needs. Settling them for their naps. Taking them to groups or play areas. Always ensuring their well-being is prioritised and that their needs are met.
