My Summary
About Me
Hi there!
About me... I have a wide and increasing range of interests as I'm always trying new things. I love reading and writing. I enjoy being out in nature, exploring, hiking and am reasonably well-travelled. I recently completed a yoga teacher training course in India. I love the theatre. I love to cook. I like singing and dancing. I enjoy being creative and planning trips, activities and days out. I am very family orientated and, of course, I love working with children!
My Experience
I have many years of experience working in a variety of roles with children of all different backgrounds. My love of childcare began at home as the eldest of five children. I would write stories featuring my siblings, something I still do now, with colour-in illustrations for the children I nanny. I helped with homework, morning and bed-time routines as well as life skills such as reading the time or preparing food. We played ball games, choreographed dance routines, made homemade gifts and generally had a lot of fun.
My favourite thing about caring for my siblings was celebrating their wins. I knew I wanted a career helping children to achieve their goals. After finishing school I volunteered as a residential mentor to teenagers with poor social, emotional and mental health, as well as behavioural issues which made mainstream education inaccessible to them. Upon completion of the programme I was offered a full time position as a learning support assistant where I was able to continue the work I had been doing. As well as assisting in a twice-weekly class for teenagers with such needs, I was also placed as a 1 to 1 with a student with cerebral palsy and another with ASD.
I later moved to Cambridge where I worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school. My first year I was assigned to year 1 and was a 1 to 1 for a child with autism. My second year I was placed in years 4 and 6 where my primary purpose was managing student engagement and SAT preparation, respectively. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the primary school and received fantastic feedback from the teachers I worked alongside. It was a privilege to see previously underperforming children take interest in their education and thrive in unexpected ways.
I was also employed as a childcare provider in a before and after school programme which ran full-time during school holidays. My responsibilities were to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for children between the ages of 4 and 11. I set up a summer 'boot-camp' for the children which was hugely popular and successfully promoted exercise as a healthy and fun activity. I also taught baking, arts and crafts and put on a dance show.
I have spent the rest of my working life (the last five years) as a nanny working between London and Suffolk. I have nannied children as young as 10 months to 12 years old - meaning I have experience in weaning and potty training, as well as preparing for high school. I've helped children conquer fears and phobias, learn emotional regulation skills, learn to read and write and thrive in sports teams and artistic pursuits. I have spent the last 3 years as a nanny for a then 3 and 8 year old and a ten month old baby. Nannying has been one of the biggest joys of my life and I'm very grateful for the relationships I have built with the families I have worked for.
My Qualifications
I have 4 A levels. A* in English Language. A* in Media. A in Creative Writing. B in English Literature.
I also achieved top marks in my GCSE's, including French and Textiles.
My Availability
I am looking for a full time nanny position and can be flexible according to the parents' requirements.
