My Experience

Educational Approach
• With a keen interest in the different approaches to learning and development in children's growth stages, I have educated myself in the Steiner and Montessori schools of thought. I will follow parents' efforts, complimenting their approach using my extensive knowledge and experience to incorporate imaginative and age-appropriate activities to support children through each stage of their development.
• Experienced in the use of Makaton for communication with younger children and children with special needs i.e. (ASD, ADHD), Makaton, which supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention, listening, comprehension, memory and expressive speech and language. Currently studying Makaton through song.

Children’s Needs Specialist
• Particular expertise with children from birth to age 4 with a strong understanding of early years development is based on my experience. Using my knowledge, fun, and experience as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, combined with continued professional development; I competently provide for each child's needs, likes and preferences.
• Teaching children how to sleep comfortably with care and consideration,involving them in cooking, and love and be curious about different foods. I support weaning and potty training and help children to welcome a new brother or sister to the family.
• Managing households with multiple children and ensuring each child has their needs met each day.
• Understanding those children’s tantrums come from frustration and eliminating that frustration using sign language and strategies to comfort and reassure the child.

SEN Nanny
• I am champion of special needs children, having spent many years caring for children requiring a little extra support and attention to be able to shine as brightly as they can.
• Having grown up the eldest of 5 siblings, one with special needs, I have an organic understanding of SEN children's needs.
• I provide the resources and strategies to support SEN children's emotional, social, physical and educational development to be able to interact confidently with their peers.

• Supporting the entire family during the different development stages and significant life events like pregnancy, childbirth and breast-feeding are among the many skills offered by me.
• Experience dealing with difficulties such as family break ups, postnatal depression, pregnancy and birth complications. Sensitively supporting and guiding the entire family through.
• Proficient when dealing with illness in the family knowing when to step in and when to step back.
