..Hello.....I am Karen, Mum of 2 and Nanna of 2....
I am able to offer 30 hours per week to children who are 3, free to parents the term after their child`s 3rd birthday as i am able to access the government funding, giving you the choice whether to send your child to a nursery or pre-school or to a smaller setting like mine )
I am also able to offer the 15 hours that are funded to 2 year olds and 15 hours to 9 month olds from September….
My son was born in 1993 and my daughter in 1997 my grandson in 2015 and my granddaughter in 2019....
I have been married to my husband Rob ( who is a retired police officer ) for 37 years. Rob is also registered with Ofsted and is able to work with me if necessary...
I used to be in the RAF as a stewardess but left prior to the birth of my son. A couple of years after my daughter was born ,and after I had been a stay at home mum for 7 years I knew that I would never be able to return to my previous job choice, so decided that a full time career change would need to take place ,I considered myself a good mother and role model and thought I could use these skills to provide childcare for others and here I am 23 years later still doing what I do best!
I run my business Karen Wilson Childcare from our lovely 3 storey house, with a dedicated childminding room on the ground floor. We bought this house with my business in mind as it gives me the downstairs family room as a work space, and our living room is on the middle floor, this works well for my family and business alike. There is no compromise on my business working area or our own living room arrangements as the 2 are separate.
I am registered with OFSTED and am a member of PACEY. At my last OFSTED inspection I was graded Good, this was October 2019, I am very proud of this and of the results and achievements that the children at my setting achieve. I keep very good `Learning Journey`s` for each child under 60 months which keeps both myself and the parents up to date with their development. These journals are also a wonderful keepsake of your child's early years for you to keep when they move onto school.
My Experience
31 years of looking after children, my own 2 and approximately 75 childminded children over the years. I have fantastic support from my husband in my job choice, which without I would not be able to provide the excellent service that i do. Both my own children are now of an age where they do not need me as much, this benefits my business as there is no conflict of interest with my own children being little
It is also commitment from me that I still do this job because I love it and NOT because I have to be at home to look after my own little ones.
My son and daughter both now live in their own homes.

I have also completed EYFS ( Early Years Foundation Stage) training, which is now mandatory and which all childminders must work towards, and the new revised EYFS that will be implemented in September 2012

My Fees

My fees are currently £6.00 per hour
I currently only dropping off and collecting from Fynamore School in Calne
I am happy to provide all meals if necessary, again this can be discussed if relevant to you
My normal working hours are 07.30-5.30pm, however i am happy to be flexible outside of these hours, ( fees can be discussed upon enquiry )

My two daughters benefitted from Karen's care, meals, and activities until they went to school. She always made time if I wanted to discuss their progress, and knowing that they would be given balanced nutritious meals included in the cost made my life so much easier!
Karen has been so reliable, in the four years I think she only needed to call me with her own family emergency once.
We'd thoroughly recommend her and her five star service!

My daughter went to Karen from the age of 1 for a year before we relocated. Karen helped her to thrive in all areas and Isla loved going there. Karen provided everything we needed for Isla in a home from home setting and we regard her as a member of our family for this reason.
Upon searching for new childcare for my daughter it has become clear to me that Karen was truly 1 in a million when it comes to childcare settings and I am sure we will never find anyone like her. I highly highly recommend her and her setting to any parents.

My husband and I chose Karen based on excellent childcare reviews, OFSTED report and flexibility with childcare hours. We took a risk of transferring our child from nursery to a childminding setting as we wanted to settle our son in Calne and liked the idea of a small group setting with activities not limited to one setting.
Karen is a friendly and bubbly mother of 2 grown up children. She is flexible and reliable (she has never taken a sick day during our year with her). Ad hoc sessions have been easy to arrange.
Activities include gingerbread men baking, paddling pool, soft play and my son even got to sit in the back of a real police car! There is a well stocked playroom with a small table for the children. Children are encouraged to be independent.
We believe that Karen is the best childminder in Calne and would recommend her highly.

I was chatting to a work colleague before going on maternity leave and mentioned that I would need a childminder full time on my return to work and Karen was recommended to me.
During my maternity leave I visited various childminders in the Calne area but decided to choose Karen due to her consiousness of Health and Safety I needed from a childminder who would be looking after my daughter on a full-tme basis. Also another deciding factor was the setup of Karen's home with a dedicated playroom comprising of a large amount of equipment encouraging learning and development.
Having to return to work full time, another requirement I wanted from a childminder was for meals to be provided. Karen provides meals for Erin and gives her a well balanced nutritious diet, important for her growth and development.
Erin was nine months old when she joined Karen and settled in very quickly. She is now 2 1/2 years old and has become a very independent child who is happy and contented.
I know that finding the right childminder can be a daunting prospect, but Karen has met all my requirements and I would have no hesitation in recommending her childmnding services.

I met Karen through a mutual friend, whilst I was pregnant with my second child, we got chatting and I made a loose agreement with Karen to have a meeting about having both my children when I returned to work after Maternity leave. During the end of the pregnancy and maternity leave, we kept in touch so that William and Elizabeth could get used to Karen.
Her home is great for the kids and the playroom is full of fun things all the children have done from outings to fun days painting in the house to the younger children enjoying the toddler groups. There is a 5 1/2 year difference between my children, and Karen caters well for them both.
The most imoportant thing for me is that I know Karen treats my children as her own in many ways, which is a great peace of mind for me. I have fallen on my feet finding such a great childminder.
