About Me

I am a sociable, enthusiastic person who is looking for a new opportunity when I move to Dunfermline in January 2025. I am currently a Nanny and a qualified Pilates teacher and in my free time I enjoy being active and getting outdoors. I would like my new opportunity to be one in which I can bond with and be part of a family, helping to nurture and enrich experiences for children.

I have worked in the childcare sector for 8 years in a number of roles, with children of various ages and care needs. My patient and attentive personality has helped me to succeed in these roles and develop my skills as a nanny, particularly those required to care for a child with disabilities.

My Experience

Over the past 8 years I have worked with children from the ages of 6 weeks - 12 years.

In my previous Nanny role, I cared for two children under 5 for 4 years. During this time, I helped the children through many key developmental stages such as weaning, learning to walk, encouragement and promotion of speech and potty training. I began this role as a Mothers Help to assist with a newborn, but my main role was to care for the eldest child who has additional support needs. As part of this role, I have been trained in using a Flocare Infinity Feeding Pump, checking blood glucose levels (which as a Type 1 Diabetic I have an in-depth knowledge of) and injecting and administering medication through a gastrostomy tube.

Following the mothers return to work after maternity leave, I was solely responsible for the children during the day. This involved caring for both children, planning and taking them to indoor and outdoor activities as well as identifying and attending organised clubs and groups. At present, the daily routine involves looking after the youngest child throughout the day, whilst dropping off and collecting the eldest from nursery.

Prior to being a Nanny I worked in a Nursery for two years, exclusively with babies from 6 months up to the age of 2. This was a hugely valuable learning experience for me, helping me to specialise in care for younger children. My daily routine included changing nappies, making up bottles, adapting food and snacks for children weaning from milk to solids and providing different sensory activities for babies to enjoy.

I have previously worked in an After School Club for two years as a Play Worker where I cared for around 30 children each day from the ages of 5-12. I helped to encourage positive behaviour and an approachable atmosphere where children can discuss their thoughts and concerns in an accepting environment. I was given Key Children and had the responsibility of putting on weekly activities to stimulate, engage and challenge the children’s abilities and development. Another role of mine was to provide a varied, nutritious snack where I catered for nut, gluten and dairy intolerances, vegetarians and diabetics.

I also have experience in holidaying with families to provide care support, babysitting, hotel or special occasion babysitting and Football coaching for under 10s. I would be more than happy to elaborate on any of these if more information would be useful.

Coming from a big family in which my mother also cared for children, I have always been surrounded by children and babies from a very young age. I believe this is where my passion to work with children has come from and I am looking forward to a new chapter in Dunfermline with a loving family who I can bond with and share happy memories.
