About Me

I’m Jodie and I am Back to Nature. I am a mum of two Alice 5 and Eddie 1, I have been in childcare for 15 years in a variety of different roles from support worker for children in care, to managing children’s homes and teaching childcare. I have an NVQ national diploma level 5 and TAQA, PTTLS and TEFL teaching qualifications. I am currently learning Bristish sign language and teaching the children it. I am also qualified in baby massage and reflexology . I have been a childminder for 4 years I started when it was time to go back to work after Alice was born, I took the decision to become a childminder and it has been the best decision I have ever made, and cannot imagine doing anything else now.
I am a unique setting based in Woodston and I’m on a mission to bring back curiosity, wonder and nature back to childhoods to create the future forward thinkers!
My setting takes ingredients from Montessori, Reggio, Hygee, the Froebal Trust and The Curiosity Approach. The main principles of these are to inspire and ignite the children’s intrinsic motivation to explore, experiment and create.
A lot of my resources are open ended, recycled and foraged from nature. This allows for the children to lead their own play and develop skills they need to become free thinkers and explore their sense of self.
I am passionate about the children learning in the outdoors and really believe that nature provides the best classroom. I have a large allotment where the children have an active role in growing fruit, vegetables and looking after chickens. We go on lots of adventures from woods, beach, libraries, national space centre, classical concerts for children just to name a few.
In 2023 we will be taking part in the Woodland trust – green tree school award, Wildlife hedgehog award, The Queen’s green canopy award and be involved in the Woodlands Trust free trees for schools and communities scheme.
I have limited space for 0-5 year old from July and September 2023
