About Me
I am a mum of 3 (including twins) and have worked with children, including children with special needs, for over 20 years. I feel very lucky to have had such an enjoyable and rewarding career. Parents need to know their children are safe, happy and settled when they are in the care of a babysitter, and that is exactly what I provide. I am patient and caring by nature, and a responsible and reliable sitter. Whilst babysitting in your home I would be engaged and involved with your child/ren - reading with them, playing games, helping with school/homework, involving them in meal preparation etc. I’m also happy to do some light help around the home if required - tidying, washing up etc.
I have loved working with children, as a teaching assistant in primary schools and as a volunteer for HomeStart (supporting families with children under the age of 5). I have recently started to help care for my parents and find providing childcare is a way in which I can continue to enjoy working with children and supporting younger families. I enjoy walking, reading, gardening, cooking, watching films and spending time with my family and friends.
My Experience
Firstly, I have brought up my own children, so fully understand the fun and chaos that is family life!
In my working life, I have worked with many children over the years in primary schools from 4 year olds in reception to 11 year olds in Yr6. I have lots of experience of supporting children who have special needs, for example, children who have autism/aspergers and associated conditions, and understand their need for calm, routine and patience.
I particularly enjoyed the nurturing side of being a teaching assistant - encouraging and developing self-confidence, skills and positivity in children. Every child is unique - I have an understanding and fair approach to childcare. I relate well to children, enabling trusting and respectful relationships to build.
My Qualifications
I have taken courses or completed training in child behaviour and development, teaching assistant certificate, various SEN training, first aid, safeguarding, 8 week course to become a HomeStart volunteer (including health&safety, confidentiality). I have a clean driving licence and have extra insurance for work in case I am required to transport your child/ren. I have an up to date DBS check. I am used to dogs so am happy to walk a dog if required in the day.
My Availability
I would be happy to have enquiries about regular weekly hours, as well as babysitting on an ad-hoc basis. Also available for household help - including ironing, housekeeping, pet walking/sitting etc.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £13.00 per hour
Babysitting will be charged from a basic rate of £13/hour. Ages and number of children will be taken into account to agree upon our hourly rate, as well as extras you would like me to do in the house, for example, KS1 tutoring or larger household tasks eg a pile of ironing, supplying homemade healthy meals for children after school etc. Please feel free to ask about additional tasks you would like me to consider.
