About Me
We are a mother and daughter partnership who offer quality care to children aged 0-16 years. We have been childminding for 17 years and during this time have looked after children of all different ages, backgrounds, abilities and needs.
We are registered with Ofsted and recently received a mark of overall 'Good' with elements of 'Outstanding' in Safeguarding Children and Working With Parents. We are also registered with and regulated by the Sandwell Childminding Network meaning we attend regular meetings and training to keep our provision up to date!
It is Gail's home which provides a non smoking, warm, family orientated environment for our childminding business.
We are both trained and fully competent in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework which is the universal curriculum for children aged 0-5 years. All children within our care who are aged 0-5 are provided with weekly planned activities to suit their individual needs and interests. We also do regular observations and evaluate our practice in order to ensure each child's needs are being met. As well as this we complete a Learning Profile for each child during their time with us to assess their development and plan accordingly.
We also use WellComm Screening which is the boroughs toolkit for assessing Speech and Language in Early Years throughout Sandwell.
Our weekly routine includes trips to stay and play sessions, the local library's and the opportunity to explore the local community and enviroment.
We welcome all cultures and backgrounds and are firm believers in equal opportunities and inclusion for all.
We are open 7.30 am to 5.30 pm and are also open in school holidays where we enjoy visits to our local parks and fun activities.
You are welcome to bring meals for us to prepare for your child. Children are provided with fresh drinking water and snacks throughout the day.
We pride ourselves on the warm, friendly and nurturing environment and provision we provide and offer an open door approach to families. We would love to hear from you!
My Experience
We have been childminding for 17 years and both have experience with our own children as well as having plenty of experience within the childcare industry itself. Barbara worked as a nursery nurse at a holiday centre in her youth to working in a day nursery and helping out at her children's school.
Gail also has quality experience in Early years settings including a pre-school and private day nursery.
My Qualifications
We both hold NVQ Level 3 certificates in Children's Care, Learning and Development as well as receiving the following certificates:

My two year old son has been attending Gail and Barbara Childminding since he was 8 months old and absolutely loves it there! They are warm, caring individuals who really do offer a 'home from home' atmosphere for the children in their care. Their skills and professionalism are clear to see when you are shown the children's individual planning and profiles which are completed for the children. I myself am a pre-school leader and it is very obvious to me that they spend a lot of time ensuring that each child is catered for in their planning and ensuring that every child's developmental needs are met.
My son cant get through the door quick enough and I've never had a problem with him not wanting to go! He has made some lovely friends whilst in their care, and i can see him growing and learning every day!
If anyone is looking for a warm, friendly, professional and caring environment for their child to be nurtured in then i cant recommend these providers enough! I am very lucky to have chosen such a wonderful pair of childminders!
