About Me
My name is Amanda and I am an Ofsted registered Childminder with over 16 years experience working with and for children and young people.
I am also a qualified primary school teacher, who specialises in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
Mucky Pups is a term time only setting, ran by myself and my husband Phil, and we have two daughters together here at the house.
We love to learn outdoors, get messy and go on day trips with picnics as often as we can.
I am also fully qualified with the following:
Level 3 paediatric first aid
Level 2 food hygiene
Level 2 child protection

My Experience
I have worked with children since I began university, in an out of school club for three years; then in a private day care setting for four years after that, where I worked mostly within the pre school unit.
I went on to work at Newcastle College where I worked as a tutor, delivering the levels 2 and 3 Childcare qualification to school leavers, before I completed my primary teacher training in a wide range of primary schools in the North Tyneside area.
I have completed the following further education courses;
North Tyneside Council Childminding Course
PGCE in Primary Teaching
BA Hons Education and Care
Foundation Degree in working with Children and Young People.
I have also recently gained my level 1 in British Sign Language certificate, which I found very rewarding as well as beneficial to my practice. I like to use sign while communicating with children, not just through song and rhyme but as often as I can. I hope to go on to achieve my level 2 in this in the near future.
I work with my husband Phil, as an assistant childminder, which has allowed for us to open up our setting to more children. Phil has a wealth of childcare and parenting experience, is a firm favourite with all the children, and helps make this setting feel like a home away from home. He is also DBS checked, and holds his level 3 paediatric first aid certificate, as well as completing safeguarding and child protection courses as well.
