A qualified teacher with 20 years of teaching experience at primary schools and pre schools at both mainstream and Special Needs sector. Main subjects taught: Music, English, Early Years Science and Modern Foreign Languages. Passionate about teaching and facilitating independent learning in children. Familiar with Early Years pedagogy and developmental psychology theories by Piaget and Vygotsky
My Experience
20 years experience of working in the mainstream and Special Needs Sector. Teaching Primary Curriculum as a whole and specialist subjects such as MFL and Curriculum music up to GCSE. Using various methods and techniques of teaching to meet the needs of individual children such as Karl Orff method, Dalcroze Eurytmics (or Music & Movement approach) and Zoltan Kodaly Method when teaching Music classes.
Karl Orff and Zoltan Kodaly methods are particularly relevant when working with young children because these methods use use language, its sounds and rhythms and expressive potential. This is why these method generate a learning synergy between the language and music skills taught simultaneously. When teaching foreign languages I use a lot of games, songs, acting and Total Physical Approach (TPR) to encourage and enthuse children to learn more effectively.
