My Summary
About Me
I’m Jess, 29 years old available around Kidderminster or Droitwich.
I am an enthusiastic, hard-working early years educator who is ready for a new job role opportunity to help children develop to their full potential.
I have been working in early years childcare settings for 13 years and I’m really interested in expanding my current knowledge on a more personal level as a nanny.
I’m currently working in a small first school as a EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a child with SEN which I started in September. This role has broadened my knowledge and understanding of ASD and shown me ways to adapt learning styles to suit SEN children in order to allow all children to thrive in their learning.
Before that, I worked for 5 years in a independent school Pre-School where I had a small class of children aged 3-4years old where I would plan and deliver age and ability appropriate lessons. I am particularly interested in working with young children as I find it very rewarding to see them progress and develop as they prepare for their school journeys. In my roles, I used individual planning to track my key children’s learning and development, which I would observe through planned activities, and child initiated play.
Through my previous job roles I have seen 3 very different nursery environments from a small village-based nursery through to a busy, large private nursery before moving to a more education focussed Pre-School based at an independent school. From these vastly different settings, I able to adapt well to different working environments appropriately.
My Experience
I started as an apprentice nursery practitioner in 2010 and went on to complete both my level 2 and 3 in childcare. During my time as a full time apprentice I worked as part of a team to ensure a safe setting for children and employees, safeguarding children, working along government guidelines and the settings policies and procedures, completing pathway profiles for key children, working closely with parents/families, general rota duties such as cleaning and preparing activities and getting involved in team meetings and activity plans. I then moved on to a larger childcare nursery where I worked as part of a team to provide excellent care for children, the unit I worked in was targeted for children 2 years old to 2 and half years old, I have also worked with children 2-4years old too. I would feed back daily to parents informing them on their child’s progress and achievements for the day/week. I also completed daily observations on the children and link them to the current EYFS. From there I moved to an independent school where I worked as an early years educator. I would adapt and deliver lessons to my class of Pre-School aged children and would record their learning using ‘classroom monitor’ which would then be shared with parents. Throughout the academic year, I’d offer regular parents consultations and would write a full written report at the end of the school year. Whilst I was in this position, I gained the Pre-School SENco position where I would work with health care professionals and families to ensure their child’s needs are being met.
I made the decision not to return to work after having my son in 2020 as I felt I wasn’t able to have the quality time and experience all the typical maternity leave fun as we were in the middle of the pandemic. Now my son is 3 and settled in Pre-School, I feel I’m ready to go back into a profession I’m very passionate about and would love to find a family to start my nannying journey.
