About Me
I'm a caring, empathetic and reflective person passionate about teaching and learning. Born and raised in Cardiff, a graduate of Portsmouth University with a Degree in Geography, I completed my PGCE at the University of Chichester before starting my teaching career in the same city. After that I taught in Montego Bay, Jamaica and in a few different schools back in the Chichester area before working and developing my craft in West Sussex & Hampshire.I'm married to a wonderful Filipina and have two adorable young children. I'm much travelled, having taught in Jamaica, attended college in the US and travelled to China on numerous occasions to work in orphanages. I returned to South Wales in 2017 after doing most of my teaching in England. I love being creative. I have written a children's adventure book called Moondust, written and recorded many songs and directed productions in schools.
My Experience
I have over 30 years teaching experience in the Primary sector. From 2000 to 2017 I taught in two successful schools on the West Sussex/Hampshire border. We went through four outstanding inspections, I led Science & DT subject areas and from 2012 to 2017 I was on the Senior Leadership Team, focussing on mentoring and child voice. I have tutored since July 2014 , building resilience, transforming learning and giving confidence to children needing support with Maths and English. In addition, I have been teaching ESOL to newly settled refugees since May 2018. During the pandemic I set up my sole trader online tutoring business, written online courses for parents to support their children's reading and have a regular Blog.
My Qualifications
I have a BA (Hons) in Geography, a PGCE for teaching 5-12's a TEFL Certificate and a CELTA qualification for teaching English as a second language.
