About Me

I’m Clare, I have been teaching since 2007, I've worked in a range of secondary schools and was previously head of Food Technology at a school in South East London. In 2013 I started running after-school group tuition sessions for KS2 children planning on taking the 11+.

Clare’s Learning Club run classes for year 4 and year 5 pupils in Otford, Riverhead, Dartford and Farningham; the sessions are engaging, fun and affordable. Classes are an hour for year 4, followed by a 2 hour session for year 5.

Face-to-face sessions are a maximum of 12 children. The clubs are a supportive environment with varied and engaging activities. At Clare’s Learning Club the ethos is to facilitate the children’s learning, encouraging their natural ability to shine, while supporting them in any areas they need. The year 4 course is designed to build their core skills in maths and English with key reasoning skills, this is then built on and further developed in year 5, covering the more complex topics to a greater depth.

The curriculum I’ve devised is suitable for the local entrance and different 11+ tests, covering maths, English and reasoning. The children are not assessed before they join and some children who attend may not be planning on taking the 11+, some attend in order to build their confidence and core skills in maths and English. The mix of abilities means children get opportunities for peer to peer teaching which is a fantastic way to reinforce learning.

Clare's Learning Club are a small team of 4, we are all fully qualified teachers holding QTS status, enhanced DBS checks and public liability insurance.

I am self employed, a mother of two young children and have a soppy dog. As well as a love for teaching I have creative side which I fulfil by sculpting miniature people for unique gifts and renovating our house.

I love walking, exploring, making, creating, cooking, teaching and swimming in the sea!
