My Summary
About Me
With a degree in Education, I am able to help children to develop and learn core skills that will help them to understand the world around them. I love to learn new things and I am always looking at ways to help children cope with growing up whilst still having fun and exploring.
I would describe myself as down to earth and calm. I love spending time in the outdoors and I find nature to be very soothing, I try to spend as much time as I can experiencing what nature has to offer. I am quite active and enjoy participating in a variety of activities, for example cycling and swimming. I always get children involved with sports as it is a fun way to spend time and helps to build trust and team work. Being a confident swimmer, I am able to support any child in the water.
When it comes to indoor activities, I love to come up with new ways to inspire children’s minds. I love to draw and paint, I often encourage creativity as it is a way to let go and be wild with one’s imagination. The children support me in the kitchen, we follow recipes to create delicious tasting foods. Getting children involved with baking and cooking is a good way to help them become independent, to learn about different foods, develop their reading and vocabulary and understand the importance of safety in the kitchen.
Children are the true wonders of the earth, they grow up to become important figures in history. This is why I believe children should be encouraged and supported to be who they want to be. I feel that the only way for children to grow up strong, responsible, caring and kind is by being around the ones who only want the best for them.
My Experience
Throughout my life I have been interested in and passionate about working with and helping children to reach their full potential. As a result, I chose to study towards a Bachelor of Education and, later, a Bachelor of Education Honours in Inclusive Education (a degree that allows me to teach children with special needs). Not only did I learn about the development of the child and the pedagogy of teaching but I also gained a great deal of practical experience in the classroom. During my teaching practice, I worked at various schools (resourced and under-resourced) and with various age groups. I also worked full time at a special needs school as a teaching assistant and aftercare facilitator. In addition to this experience, I maintained my part time job of entertaining at children’s birthday parties. Thereafter, I spent some time travelling and working as a nanny in the United States of America and South Africa. I now currently work as a nanny in West London.
