About Me

I am a stay at home Mam / Birth Doula who also home educates. My partner works in TV and is away a lot in the Spring/Summer months filming his shows. Whilst home he also works in the office full time and does extra jobs working away too. My Birth Doula work is sporadic and relies on my partner to be home so that I can leave for a birth so I only tend to take clients who are due in the Winter months. I am home with the children most of the year and don't have help from any family.

I have 4 children:

My Son, Lachlan, is 6 years old. He went to childcare from 4 months old and was a very confident and social child, but when the pandemic hit and nursery closed for a while, he regressed. He is extremely shy around new people and takes a long time to come out of his shell. He went to nursery until he was 4 and started going to a small village school at 3 years old but school was far too much for him to handle and after a couple years of perseverance, it ultimately led us to start home educating him last year. He's now much happier. For more information on how he is and how best to approach him, I'd recommend looking up "Selective Mutism". He goes to a rock climbing club once a week and it's taken him 3 months to go to lessons without me and muster up the courage to talk to his instructor whilst there. So, he will eventually talk to you - it just takes a while and requires patience and lots of understanding. Once he is comfortable, he's a very funny boy and enjoys learning and asking lots of questions. He thinks very deeply about the world and absolutely loves being out in nature. He likes to draw, build complex structures with lego, playing with his sisters, and cooking.

I have three daughters. Tanwen, aged 4, who can be shy like her brother but tends to just copy him. She opens up faster. Tanwen went to nursery from 4 months old to 3 years old. She has a strong sense of injustice and always wants to do what her brother does. She copies everything, even down to his clothes. She loves imaginative play and is always wanting to play police officers or pirates. She also enjoys story telling.

Eilidh is 2 and is a very funny little girl, and a little bit crazy. She loves to be the centre of attention and make everybody laugh. She's not shy like her older siblings and is always waving and saying hi to random people when we're out and about. Eilidh went to nursery from 4 months old to 15 months old. She likes to be mischievous and finds it hilarious - like stealing her siblings toys and running away. She's always trying to wrestle her older brother and enjoys pretending to be on the phone, and playing with baby dolls.

Rowena is 8 months old and exclusively breastfed. I am able to express milk for her when I'm not there. She is crawling now and is a very chilled out baby although never been apart from both of us at the same time (I've been away and left her with Dad before). She is eating well, eats a variety of fruit, vegetable and meals. She loves to watch her older siblings play and is very content to sit and play with her own toys for a while. All of the older children are great with her.

I'm looking for somebody who can help with the children once a week for a few hours to give me a break, and maybe once a month to have them for an evening or daytime on the weekend so I can have some quality time with my partner who works away a lot.

I'm not expecting to be able to leave them for a while so initially we'd be paying you to be here whilst I'm also here to slowly build up a relationship with the children. Once they're more comfortable with you, they wouldn't need to be taken anywhere when you're here. There's plenty to do at home - we have a big garden, a small river to paddle in, ruins to explore, lots of wildlife to look at, there's also lots of Home Ed resources here, a play room and desk to do activities up. You'd also be welcome to use the kitchen if you wanted to cook something with them, etc.

Welsh speaking would be an advantage but not necessary. Dad is Welsh but I'm not so I do worry about their Welsh language input as they're with me majority of the time - they understand some but never speak it. It would be great if someone could speak Welsh to them whilst here but again, not required.
