My Summary
About Me
Growing up I was a massive bookworm - reading was my favourite thing in the world and I would love nothing more than to pass on the love to a new generation. On the other side, I have a lot of experience working with kids in a more educational setting. During school I did a lot of volunteering with younger students, running the numeracy mentorship program and also volunteering in multiple language classes. I really enjoy helping people learn and I am a very patient teacher. I understand that everyone learns differently and at their own speed and think I could be a great asset to helping a young person learn and grow!
My Experience
I have very varied childcare experience so I will delve into the four most significant examples. For three years I worked as a playscheme worker between two schools for children with extreme learning difficulties during school holidays. During holidays I worked full time, the work included planning activities, feeding, writing reports for parents and more. From this I got a job as a personal carer for a young man with an extreme disability, this included feeding, administering medication, cooking, entertaining, personal care (bathing and using the toilet), and much more. The young man could not talk or walk so was very reliant on 24/7 care. The last example is my work as an au pair in the summer of 2020. I spent two weeks in Italy taking care of an 11 year old girl and then six weeks in Spain with a family of with four year old and seven year old girls. I was mainly in charge of playing with them and teaching them English. Most recently I worked as a nanny for a family with a one year old girl. I spent a few hours each day with her - reading, playing, singing, generally keeping her safe and entertained while teaching her things! I was fully in charge for the hours I was with her, organising meals, outings, and activities while also dealing with nap time and dirty nappies. Overall, I love working with babies and would be very glad to have the opportunity again.
My Qualifications
I have a PVG certificate and have in the past had an SSSC certificate - I stopped paying the fee as I wasn’t actively working in childcare but I would be willing to renew it. Through my job at the playscheme I have training in moving and handling, child protection, behaviour management and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through my nannying job I have had a DBS check as well as training in first aid, care for under 4 year olds, and general nanny training.
My Availability
I am ideally looking for 15-20 hours a week. I have an apprenticeship starting September 8th and am looking for some hours to get me through the summer. I am unavailable Mondays 4-5pm.
