About Me

I am a female primary school teacher. I specialised in special needs and have a wealth of experience in different classroom environments. I also have 11 years SEN experience. I am competent in PECS and Makaton.

I have also been employed as a SEN home teacher. In this role, I have taught young people up to the age of 19 to help with the functional skills.

More recently, I have been contracted to go into the homes of children who are electively home educated (EHE). Here, I will supplement their learning alongside the parents or will put a programme of learning in place.

I am a functional skills tutor, also. I cover entry levels all the way to level 2.

I also led phonics interventions within school. I was tasked with improving the confidence of children struggling with different phases and those that had previously failed their phonics screening tests. All these children went on to pass their tests and dramatically improved their reading and writing skills. This is something I have continued to work on as my teaching journey has continued. Children who struggle with reading, sentence formation and/ or writing usually have gaps in their phonetic knowledge; I go back and bridge these so that the other steps fall into place.

I understand that a lot of children may be struggling due to having a loss of classroom time; my aim is to bridge the gaps in their learning and build their self-confidence in their education.

I am happy to provide primary English, Maths, phonics, reading and wider curriculum lessons.

I hold an enhanced DBS which is on the update system. I cover Walsall and surrounding areas, including West Bromwich and Birmingham.
