My Summary
About Me
My name is Hattie and I am a very fun and caring person who loves working with children!
I am very responsible and hard working, and always take initiative when it comes to working with children by making sure they are always happy and healthy. I also communicate thoroughly with the parents about the day, whether that be about what the child ate or whether the child may be developing a cold ect. so everyone involved can cater to the chid's needs effectively.
I love being outdoors, and always encourage the children I look after to go on walks, run around in the garden or build sandcastles at the beach rather than spending too much time in front of electronics. I am strict when it comes to routines surrounding nap times and bed times as I think it is so important for a child to have structure in order for them to thrive.
My Experience
I worked as a nanny during late 2018 - 2019 with two families whilst I was finishing my postgraduate degree. The family I spent most of the time with had a then one-year-old boy. I would often look after the child during the day where I would be in charge of organising activities, such as farm parks and the beach, as well as cooking him food, laundry and keeping a strong routine for him concerning his naps and bedtime. I also travelled with the family on skiing and residential holidays.
Alongside this I also nannied for a family with two young girls, aged 5 and 7 at the time, where I would have them before and after school three days a week. I was in charge of getting them ready and taking them to school and picking them up from after school clubs, cooking tea and making sure their homework was done.
After I finished university, I worked as a full time live-in nanny with a family during late 2019 - 2020, with three children then aged 8, 1 and newborn (born Jan 2020). My role was focusing on the two younger children, however when lockdown hit, I was also responsible for helping with the older boy. Working with three children at once, all with different needs, was a great experience. With the newborn, I had many duties including, sterilising and making bottles, laundry, helping with nap and feeding schedules (though mum was also breastfeeding alongside bottles), bath time and working on milestones - such as tummy time and baby-led weaning. With the toddler, before lockdown I would take him to playgroups and classes and organise activities outside the house. However when we were locked down, I had to get creative to keep an energetic toddler entertained which was a challenge! I was able to find all sorts of activities around the house to make sure he was still being stimulated, such as painting, water play, pretend play and reading lots of books which was his absolute favourite. I would make him lots of finger foods, put him down for naps and ensure his toys were organised and laundry was done. With the older child, before lockdown I would sometimes take him/pick him up from school, however mum very much wanted this time with the child. However during covid, mum and I took over homeschooling which I really enjoyed, and made sure he completed all of his classes and homework.
At the end of 2020, I took the following year off due to lockdown and covid. I moved back home to be with my family and mainly did adhoc childcare for families in my area.
At the start of 2022 I began working with a family who recently moved from London to the countryside with their daughter who was seven months when I began working with them. Both parents often work from home but occasionally travel to London for work. I was in charge of cooking healthy and nutritious meals for the baby, who was already fully weened when I started, doing laundry and tidying her playroom, as well as playing with her.
In October 2022, I moved to Edinburgh and began working with my current family in December 2022 when the child was 4 weeks old. She is now almost 16 months. I am in charge of making her meals, doing all the family’s laundry, organising classes and play dates ans keeping the play area tidy and clean.
I am looking for some extra evening babysitting work.
I hold a clean drivers license, am DBS checked and have my own car.
