About Me

My name is Marie-Louise Hodgson and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I am 42 years old and am based just off Latham Avenue, Runcorn.

I have been in full time employment, so I have a full understanding of the difficulties parents face regarding working hours etc, so I offer a very flexible service to work around these problems. I work weekends and will consider working bank holidays, including Christmas week. I have completed and hold certification for paediatric first aid and Safeguarding Children. I have also completed a Risk Assessment course,Speech&language development therapy course and my NVQ level 3 in childcare.

My aim is to keep the children in my care fully occupied and happy, and to enjoy their days with me and the other children. I love the outdoors and keeping fit, and like my children to be the same too, so we will be doing lots of activities on a daily basis ,including ; trips to the park (depending on weather!) , children centres organised group activities (mud kitchen, messy days, tots workout etc) and mom and tots groups .The groups we attend are at Brookvale Childrens Centre,Halton Lodge Childrens centre and Windmill Hill Childrens centre.We also go to Thr Jungle in Warrington and other indoor soft play areas. At times the children centres arrange great days out at Norton Priory or similar outings. I always aim to do as many outing as possible so I can make observations on the children, i use these to tick off what the child can do for their age and plan next steps.

During school holidays I have older school children in my care. During these times our routines change! We will walk to our local parks, look for activities at the children centres to do for older children, meet up with childminder friends or play at home,inside or out in the garden where we use outdoor games, ride on toys, make obstacle courses etc. Or have baking and craft days, movie afternoons with sweets and popcorn or just run around and be kids!

I apply the Early Years Foundation Stage in everyday activities so children are safe and have fun while they learn! As part of the EYFS I do assessments and observations on the children. I also use trackers to track their progress and I will always keep parents up to date and discuss any concerns I might have with them in confidential.(as mentioned above, everyday activities or tasks are set out for a specific child, focusing on that child to see where weaknesses and strong point lies, then using this to plan ahead)

I offer funded childcare for 9months +, 2,3 and 4 year olds
