My Summary
About Me
Hi! I’m a 24 year old nanny & personal assistant living in Brunswick Town. I have five years of experience nannying, as well as international teaching experience. Experienced with twins, children with special needs, proxy parenting, and holiday nannying.
As of Sept 2024, I'm currently looking for a new family to work with on a part-time basis alongside my flexible personal assistant role.
My Experience
I have been lucky enough to work with several families over my five years of working with children, these are some notable experiences:
From 2019 - 2022, I was committed to my first part-time nanny role alongside my studies, where I was responsible for G7 and B12. My main responsibilities included school runs, assisting with homework, preparing dinner, planning day trips at the weekends to the park or beach, entertaining the children and overseeing recreational activities like art & crafts, baking, and gardening. We remain on great terms and I occasionally babysit for them still, but they've sadly moved too far away for me to continue working for them regularly.
From Sept 2022 to April 2023, I worked on a weekly basis for a wonderful family with twin girls aged 7. Mainly an after-school nanny role, I oversaw school runs, accompanied the children to activities like gymnastics and jiu jitsu, planned and prepared dinners, oversaw their bedtime routine, as well as assisting with homework including daily spelling tests and literacy support. I also had some nursery responsibilities like the children's laundry, and maintaining their bedrooms and play areas.
As of May 2023, I've begun regular sole care and overnight nannying for a B11 to support his guardian who is often away for work. This has been my first experience of proxy parenting, which I've found to be a pleasant challenge!
Over summer of 2023, I joined a nanny agency from which I nannied for a B10.
I was very pleased to gain some experience with children with special needs, and felt being a part of this child's support system broadened my understanding of autism in young people.
In addition to my regular nanny experience, I've also been lucky enough to have some holiday nannying adventures! In June 2022, I accompanied a family of G5 and B8 abroad to Cyprus for a week-long holiday to relieve them with nannying duties, including sole care of the children, going on walks or to the swimming pool, accompanying them on day trips to the water park and cat sanctuary. I also managed some housekeeping duties like maintaining general tidiness of the villa, and some meal preparation.
Some more background about me:
In 2022, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in music.
Summer of 2023, I worked as a personal chef for a villa in Croatia, so I am very comfortable in the kitchen and would love to cook some hearty meals or do some creative baking with your children during our time together.
Prior to university, I took a gap year where I assisted in an English language school in Seville, Spain for three months to gain a Level 3 TESOL qualification (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
This was my introduction to working with children in a professional setting, teaching children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. I led 1-1 sessions, assisted senior teachers, and planned learning activities tailored to the children's unique abilities and goals.
This experience showed me how rewarding working with young children is, allowed me to work and live abroad for the first time and also sparked my love for Spanish culture!
I have a basic/intermediate understanding of Spanish and would love to continue learning the language.
I'm very comfortable with children, and have been told I have a very positive, calm nature.
I have been babysitting on an ad-hoc basis around Brighton and London since 2019.
In my free time, I'm a musician and photographer. I enjoy going to see live music, travel, and cooking!
Unfortunately I don't yet drive, so would prefer to work with local families.
Happy to provide my passport, DBS, and childcare references upon request!
My Qualifications
I don’t currently hold any formal childcare qualifications but have lots of experience.
I have a degree in music, and A Levels in English Literature, Music and Drama & Theatre Studies.
I have a Level 3 TESOL qualification from my time as an English teaching assistant in Spain.
My Availability
I am able to be flexible, but would prefer to work regular weekly hours for a family.
With ad-hoc jobs, please give as much notice as possible!
