My Experience

I had a part time job in a Farm Shop from the age of 14. This brought me great communication and life skills and has shown me how a business is managed and the importance of effective communication. Alongside this, I often babysat children of family and friends. This helped to gain experience and develop on my skills with young children.
During this time I completed a 100 hour placement at Great Bentley Primary School, to which I volunteered to extend to the end of the academic year. In this placement I worked with children aged between 6 and 7. This enabled me to communicate effectively with children and develop my skills and experience within this environment.
I then completed a work placement at Great Bentley Pre-school. This gave me the experience of working with younger children and the ability to work well within a team. I also worked in the Pre-school for one week, this was to help me gain experience of the routine within a nursery. This gave me the passion to develop further into this field. I enjoyed working within the care environment, this totally involved me and I felt that this was the career path in which I would like to follow.
Shortly after this I started a full time apprenticeship. I completed my Early Years Level 2 and progressed quickly. I was made a Key Practitioner within a few months and completed my Early Years Level 3 soon after. Since then I have worked my way through to a Senior practitioner and eventually moved to the nurseries sister site, here I became Team Leader. I have worked within many teams within this environment and have always been keen to keep progressing. I have experience of leading and guiding a team and have gained experience for many situations. I am Forest School Level 3 qualified and am currently Third in Charge at my current nursery setting.
