I am married to Tom for 36 years and we have 3 grown up men, 34, 32 & 29 and also grandchildren. Albert is our friendly/gentle small dog. We are a very sociable, easy going, household.
My Experience
I have been childminding for 31 years. I am semi retired but I am available for after school runs or ad hoc childcare. I also have some availability for a nanny service odd hours/days and I have lots of experience with children with additional needs and can care for them in my home or yours. My home is registered for over night childcare which I also do on an occasional basis and occasional babysitting.
I am DBS checked by Ofsted, fully insured and 1st Aid trained.
I have experience of caring for children with autism, ADHD, global development delay and dietary intollerances/allergies.
I am able to do school runs to Ranvilles, St. Judes, Wallisdean and would consider other local schools.
My Qualifications
CSE English, Geography, Chemistry, Religion Grade C. Maths Grade E.
2 years Kingsway College where I learnt secretarial/office skills.
15 years secretarial/office environment.
Various childcare qualifications and courses which include 1st Aid, Safeguarding/Child Protection, Level 3 Diploma in Home-Based Childcare, Health & Safety, Raising Boys, Skilled Playworker and ongoing training.

Bernie has been an amazing babysitter . My kids love her and they look forward to spend time with her every week . Bernie is very flexible and very understanding . Within a short period if time , my kids have settled in very well with Bernie. Also Bernie helps with school drop off too . Furthermore , we as a family were really particular about having a Christian babysitter . And Bernie absolutely brilliant at it in helping my kids to do faith based activities , songs and stories , Bernie has become part of our family. We would highly recommend Bernie.

Bernie and Tom are amazing ,professional , reliable , loving and genuine people.Our kids love BeTots dearly because of the warm welcome they received from the onset. They particulary enjoy the fun and activities which are always lined up for them and the opportunity of being themselves. There is always something new for the kids to do and explore at BeTots because of their innovativeness.

Bernie has been brilliant since we chose her, my little boy is happy and enjoys the different things he gets to do. She is reliable and is very accommodating. Her husband Tom helps out from time to time and I can't fault them. Absolutely recommended

We had to find another childminder quite quickly when ours was moving up north. Bernie was so accommodating and was happy to move things around so that our little girl could attend. They are ALWAYS out and about which I love and Freya is learning all about the rules of being safe near roads as well as days of the week and the weather - all at 2 years old! Bernie is a great cook and provides lovely home cooked meals for the children. Her husband Tom always makes our daughter feel very welcome as well and they have a lovely dog called Albert who is amazing with children. Only the worst rain will stop them all going out and even then there is a big playroom with lots of activities and arts and crafts to keep them entertained. Overall I would highly recommend Bernie and Tom if you are looking for a new childminder.

We initially chose a childminder over a nursery as our son wasn’t very confident in meeting new people and we wanted a family like setting for him to grow in. Bernie arranged several sessions of various lengths for Toby to meet her and become familiar with her before starting. The time Bernie took shows how caring and kind she is and how important all the children in her care are to her. Toby has settled extremely well and has become much more confident in the 7 months he has been there. He enjoys the trips to the parks but also enjoys all the hands on sessions, painting, crafting and cooking. I would highly recommend Bernie especially if you are looking for someone who is kind and nurturing. Toby is very happy there.
Bernie’s husband Tom also takes our daughter to school three mornings a week which is great. Our daughter also goes to Bernie’s during half terms and loves her ‘craft days’ as she calls them.

My daughter has settled in really well with BeTots, communication is fantastic and my daughters SEND needs are fully met and understood. I feel that she has interaction with other children safely whilst receiving sufficient adult support.

My little boy has been with Bernie from September 2018 (14 months old). He has flourished in her care, learning so many new things.
He loves going to Bernies 2 days a week and is always excited to walk in. He loves seeing the other children in her care, and her dog Albert!
Bernie takes him to tots group, the aquarium, the park, Staunton and many many more! There are lots and lots of toys to play with, plus always something arty to do!
She always keeps a diary of naps, food, nappies etc and is such a genuine person.
She is flexible around timings and we do TTO because of my job.
We highly recommend Bernie and Tom, it has made my return to work so much smoother and less anxious :)

My two boys love Bernie and look forward to the time they spend with her. Each day spent there is an adventure as she does loads of different things with them. Like walks to the park, visits to the aquarium, Christmas display and meeting Santa. She keeps them busy with loads of different learning activities and encourages them to participate.
This is my first experience with childmilders but i am really happy I picked Bernie as she has made my kids feel so welcome. It puts my mind at easy knowing they in good hands!

BeTots childcare is amazing, extreamly helpful and always caring. My son has been with Bernie & Tom since before Christmas & he has flourished. Bernie helped us with toilet training and learning.
He has learned all of his colours, shapes and numbers.
Since our son is an only child, it is so lovely for him to be able to meet other children his age and younger before he starts school.
Excellent enviroment with so many games, toys and learning, & my son is always talking about Bernie’s yummy food & brings home artwork and sometimes cakes that he has baked.
Bernie also takes them out on days out which is great as it’s not allways possible with Work ect & always updates parents throughout the day. Couldn’t of wished for better people to look after my son! Thankyou!!!!!

Bernie & Tom are such wonderful people & really have kids best interests at heart. Bernie teaches the kids so much everyday & really involves them in all she does.
My son really took to them both & has learned real life skills massively since being at BeTots (baking/shopping/making stuff)
His numbers, reading & concentration for creative play have all been really improved.
I was a stranger to the area & they made my son & I feel very welcome and supported throughout. Xx
