My Summary
Private Tutor / Life Coach
About Me
I have a sunny disposition, and I am friendly, enthusiastic, fun. I am conscientious and well organised, adaptable and reliable, capable of working on my own initiative. I always work professionally and to my best ability and believe I easily build rapport with whomever I work alongside ensuring that I am reliably discreet on confidential matters. But most of all I have a kind and caring nature with abundance of patience and calmness about me which enables me to work with children.
I love making, creating, art, getting messy, building/construction, sewing, gardening, baking, stories, IT, role playing and discovering the world around us to build on literacy and numeracy skills. I am great at thinking outside the box and I enjoy taking children on day trips and outings, e.g to the garden centre, farm, woods, play centre, dinosaur park, museum, cinema, zoo or park with safety at the forefront.
Children are very impressionable, and I am so passionate about nurturing their curiosities, building on their strengths for children to flourish. I believe you can bring out the best in them by empowering them to take ownership of their own learning and providing good routines and creating an excellent structured learning environment with occasional flexibility I absolutely adore seeing the world through their eyes and I am so committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children that I have an abundance resources to use from craft materials to games, books etc.
My Experience
I have 19 years of experience working within the education sector in a variety of roles and establishments from Head Chef, Resources Manager, Tutor, SEN Teaching Assistant, IT Support, Invigilator, Playleader and as a private tutor. I have worked in primary, middle and secondary schools, a further education establishment, an after-school club and on a local authority run summer scheme working and have been very fortunate to work with so many wonderful children, many of whom had additional needs from 3-16 and adults. I have recently private tutored a 6 to 11-year-old boy with learning difficulties in English and Maths. I am also a mother of two teenagers.
I have gained a wide knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning. I believe that all activities should be fun, purposeful and accessible both “inside” and “outside” to which I have supported, planned and implemented activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective playing, teaching and learning. I also encourage good behaviour in children and deal with any challenging behaviour in a firm and consistent manner.
I have my own car and a clean driving licence and have an enhanced DBS Check via the Disclosure and Barring Service, have completed a Paediatric First Aid course and other first aid training relating to diabetes and administering an EpiPen, but is currently needs to be updated after lockdown.

Sam has been helping us all out for the last 5 months after school twice a week. She is reliable and conscientious. Our children are going into year 3 and 5 and their confidence at school, especially in maths, has really increased. The children learn through playing games and are pushed intellectually in ways they wouldn’t normally be. They enjoy spending time with Sam and it challenges them. Sam supplies all of her own learning materials and the children are proud to show us what they have achieved. On some days when they are tired or needing a break she will do craft work or baking instead.
I highly recommend Sam to anyone looking for a private tutor.
Sam gives extra tuition to my two children (7 & 9) 3 times a week after school. She is also very well planned , a true professional and the kids always find her sessions fun but also hard work. I have to admit my two were not lovers of school but we've really seen a positive shift in there attitude to learning. Sam quickly assessed the children and is not only helping to fill there knowledge gaps but giving me ideas of things to do with them. She really has been a very positive help and I would highly recommend her...
