My Summary
About Me
I am a hardworking, self-motivated, and active person. I have worked with children for the past 5 years on and off. I have trained at University in dance and musical theatre; I then used these skills to progress into a career in entertainment, completing two seasons for Haven Holidays and a season abroad working in Cyprus both as entertainer/performer. Throughout my summers at university and breaks between seasons I helped as a bank staff member within a nursery setting. My main Nursery setting I helped at was Lexden Montessori this began in winter 2016 completing a few shifts to cover ratio's as well as winter 2018. In Winter 2019, once I had completed my final season within entertainment I began working at Lexden Montessori on a more full time basis into 2020 up until lockdown was announced. As a more permanent member of staff within the setting I began to take on tasks including preparing snacks & bottles (having taking a food safety qualification), supporting and tracking the children with their development, and helping with nappy changes (holding a DBS certificate). Within this role I was mainly based in the 0-2 year olds classroom, however I began to help out in the 2 - 5 year olds classrooms more between January - March.
I am willing to complete any tasks required of me within my new role, weather that is a few hours babysitting or if you are looking for a more permanent nanny role as I am happy to help out with cleaning/cooking, transporting as I own my own car, school work or home tasks. In addition, I am very active and would be happy to bring my dance and fitness side to the role as I can complete active sessions if required. I can also bring my experience with organising sessions for example craft activities.
My Experience
In 2011, I completed work experience within a pre-school in Chelmsford. This consisted of 2 weeks, shadowing the teachers of the school, learning all the jobs required and helping out where possible. By the end of the two weeks I was helping set up for the day, assisting the children with their activities, and overall taking an active role within the Pre-School. In the summers of 2015 & 2016 I became a bank staff member at two nursery's. 2015- Little Owls Nursery and 2016 - Lexden Montessori, these roles were mainly with under 2's and I was only required to cover ratio's but I still helped out with the day to day running of the nursery's including the set up and the pack down and tidy at the end of the day. As stated above I then went on to complete two seasons for Haven Holidays, these seasons ran from February to November. My role especially throughout the day was child based as I had organise and run different sessions to aim at a variety of ages. Some of the sessions were scripted and planned for us as they included our mascots; for example our sing along and musical sessions. However, some of our sessions had rough guides then we had to organise what we was going to do, for example we had arts and crafts (we had to plan two activities for the 4's & under and 5's & overs) in addition we held some sensory sessions for the under 2's and experiment sessions where we organised safe experiments that the children could help us with. Within all the these sessions parents needed to attend, but it was within Haven I really found my enjoyment for working with children.
In 2019, I moved on to my next adventure which was a season working for Thomas Cook abroad in Cyprus once again as the role of entertainer/show team. A bit like Haven I ran activities throughout the day around poolside, these were more family based however majority of the turnout was children. This included games of pool, football, boules, darts and water based activities (once again parents had to be in eye sight and were responsible for their children.) In both Haven and Thomas Cook we had Kid's time in the evening, this included many party dancers (around 30 minutes a night) and games for the children. This was a very interactive part of the night and even saw children joining us on stage, which made most of their holidays.
As stated in about me section, I have been on and off the books at Lexden Montessori since winter 2016, however when I returned in winter 2019 I became a more full time member of staff within the setting working 40 hours a week. I became close with the children and watched them develop and grow. I even helped by tracking their developments and created scrap books to show their parents their achievements. In addition, I completed 'hand overs' at the end of the day, letting the child's parent /career learn about what they have been up to and how they have been throughout the day. I completed all tasks of a full time staff member and loved every minute of the job. The main ages I worked with was the 0-2 year olds so this meant also prepping bottles and settling them for their mid-day naps. However, I began working part time in the 2-5 year olds classroom from January which involved more tasks to get them school ready, for example working on the higher brackets of the EYFS development matters.
Finally as well as working within the Nursery I also babysit my niece when required who just turned 1 in June.
