About Me
My name is Emily and I am 22 years old. I have just finished University at Leeds Beckett where I studied Business Management. I am an extroverted, kind person and I believe that I have a lot to bring in terms of helping out parents with their children. I am flexible, hardworking and very responsible. I have lived abroad in California where I completed a study abroad semester before travelling from the west to east coast USA with two of my friends. I then went on to live in Madrid for 6 months where I was a live in Au Pair for a family with two amazing young children. In 6 months I learnt so much and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to do that.
A little more about me and my personality:
I love horse riding. It has been my hobby for about 9 years now. I used to volunteer each Sunday at my local riding centre helping younger children to learn horse riding, care and safety.
I love to cook and bake. I will definitely be up for baking with the children and I am all for children helping in the kitchen where it is safe to do so.
I am super sociable and love spending time with my friends and family whenever I can.
I am fun, but sensible and responsible.
My Experience
During my teens I volunteered each week and multiple weekends at my local beavers, cubs and scouts group. I was a scout myself and then became a young leader. I was often in charge of groups of up to ten children aged between 6 and 10, coordinating activities and making sure they had a lot of fun whilst of course ensuring that safety was top of my list. I completed risk assessments, planned and ran activities at beaver sleepovers and weekly meetings. I also babysat regularly for my neighbours and for various family members. I was usually the first port of call if somebody needed childcare. I have an A* in GCSE child development and as part of this completed two weeks working in a nursery. My most recent experience in childcare is when I was a live in au pair for a family in Madrid. I had sole responsibility of two boys ages 3 and 4 for around 4 hours each evening, and all day Saturday. I am proud and confident of the way that I work with children.
More recently, I have nannied for a family for three months. The children were aged 6 months, 3 years and 5 years. I also nanny for a family during the school holidays (adhoc) who have two children aged 8 and 11, so I have a wide range of experience with all different ages of children.
My Philosophy
I believe that relationships with children, just like any other relationship, needs to be built on trust and transparency. I always communicate fully with the children why they can or can’t do something, including a full explanation so they knew why, not just because I said so. I love to practise gentle parenting and child led learning. I want the children I care for to thoroughly enjoy themselves, be treated with respect and kindness, and to be safe.

My Availability
I am currently available weekdays and some weekends, I am certainly flexible towards your needs. I can do early mornings no problem and later evenings too, as well as anything in between.
