About Me
I am a married mother of 3. I have two daughters, one who is 17 and one who is nine and a son who is 15.
Nearly 14 years ago now, I left my office job to work with children. I always wanted to be a primary school teacher but somehow ended up working in an office and decided that it was time to make the change.
I've been with my husband for nearly 26 years of which we've been married for nearly 18. I enjoy spending time and having fun with our children, be it cooking, messy play or out at the park. For quiet time, I enjoy music, reading and movies.
I am very lucky to have five fantastic assistants working with me - Leah, Gill, Caz and Denise who are all NVQ3 qualified or above in childcare and Zoe who holds an NVQ level 2 in Childcare. Leah is now a registered childminder herself and both Gill and Caz have previously managed pre-schools.
We have 2 cats who are very used to children although one is not so keen as the other. We got a puppy four years ago and he has settled in with our family and all the children so well and we’ve just brought a new addition to the family - a 2 year old girl chihuahua named Pip who is settling well too. We also have Willow our 5 year old tortoise who the children love to watch, feed and care for and recently acquired stick insects and caterpillars too so it’s like a mini zoo over here! It’s very important to me to teach kindness to animals in my setting so what better way to do that than to have all these animals around us.
5 of the 6 of us drive so we take everyone out for trips. With QE Country Park close by, we can go for walks and enjoy the great outdoors, although one of our favourites, as soon as the sun comes out, is to play in the paddling pool and run through the sprinkler. We love dressing up as pirates, witches, princesses, Dr's and all sorts! We enjoy baking, reading, puzzles, playing on the piano and just generally having fun.
We have recently started Spanish lessons with the children every other Wednesday and are introducing “forest school” taking the children for outdoor learning a couple of times a week until we fit in scheduled sessions.
Having been an office based working mum, I know how hard it is to leave your little ones with someone and I will do all I can to make you feel as comfortable as possible at leaving your children in my care.
My Experience
I have three children of my own, two of which are only 21 months apart.
I worked as a nursery nurse for 10 months
I have now been childminding for 12 years.
My Qualifications
I am Ofsted registered.
I am NCMA Trained.
I have completed Safeguarding Training as have all my staff
I am paediatric First Aid trained as are all my staff.
I hold a food hygiene qualification and on our last inspection scored the highest score of 5.
My Husband and I have both been CRB checked and have our certificates
Non Childminder related, I have 11 GCSE's, 4 Alevels, NVQ 3 in Business Administration. Completed Diversity and Inclusiveness Training, Project Management Training and Capturing and Engineering Requirements Course.
My Availability
I currently have limited EYFS spaces.
I do have availability for Petersgate infant school drop offs and pick ups every day but we not currently taking on Horndean school runs.

Larain, Leah, Gill & April have been looking after Oscar since he was 1 years old.
He has so much fun everyday that I never worry about dropping him off. Larain and her team take the time to get to know each child and provide such fun and educational activities. Whether it is a tough tray with a farm scene made up in it, or cutting and sticking, the children are always having fun and learning.
The team take the children out regularly to play groups, the woods, the local farm and they spend so much time outside in the garden so there is never any worry of the children being cooped up inside.
Larain provides all healthy home made/cooked meals, nappies, wipes and outings.
Oscar comes home everyday with plenty to tell me and Larain and her team are very good at updating us parents with what they have all been up to during the day!
I can highly recommend Larain Sutton Childminding and wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Larain, Gill, Leah and April for making my little boy so happy everyday!

Larain, Leah and Gill have been looking after my little Jasmine since the age of 9 months, she is now 2 and I couldn't wish for anyone else to care for her, they offer such a caring and kind environment. Jasmine has additional needs, she suffered a major stroke at birth which has resulted in her having a form of Cerebral Palsy, Jasmine requires a lot of development and supervision as well as Larain and her team needing to understand the Physio requirements, they have taken this all in their stride, happily accepted training from Jasmines Physio team and actively encourage her daily. Jasmine has developed amazingly from being in this setting and I personally cannot Thank Larain and her team for their ongoing care, kindness and drive to ensure Jasmine keeps tracking her milestones.

Larain has provided excellent childcare for my 9 year old daughter during the school holidays. My daughter has really enjoyed all the fun activities, especially the baking! and I have had total peace of mind knowing that she is in such capable hands while I am at work. Larain has endless patience and provides a home from home environment, would highly recommend. We look forward to seeing you again during the next school holiday, thank you :)
