We are able to offer children plenty of space and lots of 1 on 1 time. A bit more about us:-
I'm Louise and I live with my husband Andy (who is also a registered childminder), our four children, Alfie aged 13, Jake aged 12, Isabella aged 10, Jude aged 8, turtle, a tortoise and a little Shihtzu who the children named 'Cookie' Both myself and Andy have enhanced DBS certificates, Paediatric First Aid training and insured.
Loobylou’s Childcare is set in a beautiful countryside location, in a large 6/7 bedroomed house (a converted mill) with a large secured garden and a separate secured courtyard space for school aged children. We often have sheep and cows in the fields surrounding us. We use majority of the house for childminding including a large living room, separate dining room, craft room and large playroom plus all the bedrooms (if required) so children can have undisturbed sleep in their own cots and own room.
We will provide a warm, safe, friendly, home environment with a family atmosphere in which children feel valued, can play, learn and develop. Your child will receive a lot of individual attention whilst enjoying interaction with others. We follow the EYFS curriculum and teach children through play. As parents we understand and appreciate that parents are the most important people in a child’s life and therefore consult with parents on all aspects of their child’s care.
My Experience
I hold a wide range of relevant childcare qualifications including Level 5 in EYFS, Level 3 in Childcare and Child Psychology. Studying, learning and improving my own knowledge is something that I am passionate about as I want to help children to develop and thrive in my setting.
I started childminding over 10 years ago but I have over 20 years of childcare experience from working in nurseries, babysitting, school settings and children clubs. I have also run playgroups and helped out in rainbows, beavers and cubs! I have also put my knowledge to good use being a school governor.
I have researched and studied a lot of different methods of teaching and am greatly influenced by 'Montessori', 'Waldorf', 'Curiosity Approach' and 'Hygge'. I am also working towards my accreditation for 'Hygge in Early Years'. Hygge is the Danish approach to life that focuses on having a happier and more simple life. Using elements of warmth, cosiness and nature to make the most of every day of the year.
Communication is an important role in helping children to develop and we start this at a young age with 'sing and sign', lots of reading, nursery rhymes and one to one time.
I have also studied many methods of sleep training and adapt these methods to individual children. No one method suits all and I am happy to help parents with this as I know how hard it is functioning the next day with a lack of sleep.
It is important that I get the children outside each and every day regardless of the weather and I love this quote by Alfred Wainwright “There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”
I love working with children and am still fascinated by these little people who with one smile can brighten your day in an instant!
