My Summary

My Experience

I grew up in London but went to university in Leeds and have just graduated with a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Social Policy. I have two younger siblings: a sister (eight years younger) and a brother (twelve years younger), so I have had experience looking after younger children. My brother has allergies and is Type 1 Diabetic, so I have good knowledge and experience in dealing with and understanding how to deal with children who may go through similar situations. I plan to return to Leeds in September 2024 to do my master's but for now, I am back in London looking to enjoy my time here and provide help and services in any way I can!

I took a gap year before starting university, in which I was a Nanny and Babysitter for about 3 regular kids aged 4/5. I would work Monday - Thursdays regularly from 3-6 pm and my tasks would be picking them up from school, taking them home, looking after them, cooking them dinner and potentially doing some small work with them such as reading. I would also babysit for the families occasionally depending on when I was needed so late nights are not a problem for me. I also took part in a mentoring scheme for young adults aged 16-18 and helped with their transition and progress through sixth-form education.

I am a big child myself and so I love everything and anything that allows me to tap into that side of me! I love the creative arts and I think it is so important for a child's development therefore I love everything to do with it. I enjoy reading myself, and I love the imagination and creativity that is invoked when reading to children. I am always happy to sit and read stories as I know that it helps a lot in a child's development. I am also happy to get involved in their games as I enjoy listening to and learning how children create such amazing worlds and storylines. I also love listening to them talk and express themselves, and will always provide a space for them to explain their actions if they need some guidance calmly guide them as at the end of the day they are children and they still have much to learn. I love working with kids because I want to be a positive part of their development and growth. I think you can learn so much from children because of their pure, unfiltered personalities since they are just being themselves. When I was a nanny, and even now with new young children in my family, I love supporting them and being around them to help nurture and teach them the world, while also learning things from them myself!

My Qualifications

Graduated with a First Class (predicted) in BA (Hons) Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds. Ten A*-B GCSE qualifications and post GCSE qualifications (International Baccalaureate) in Maths, English Literature, History, Spanish, Film and Environmental Studies; First-year degree in Spanish and History. I am DBS checked but I think it would need to be renewed.
