About Me

I am a positive, compassionate and creative person who loves being around children! I can cook, clean and I love all animals. I am organised and confident with mean planning. My experience reflects my highly responsible, intuitive and caring nature. I can assist with learning and always adapt to the individual needs of every child. My philosophy supports the need for children to feel secure, supported and valued.

My Experience

I have both paid and voluntary work experience including waitressing, working with various groups such as disabled young people, the elderly and children in Africa, as well as fundraising. I am a quick learner who always dedicates myself to my role.

I have benefited from the opportunity to experience Montessori education from the ages of 4-8, and thus recognise the value of play based curriculum for child development. From this I have strong memories that I feel have impacted on my approach to learning and teaching.

I was part of a group volunteer project to set up a library in Highlands Primary School in Livingstone, Zambia. I helped children with their reading and helped plan and deliver creative, exciting lessons.

I have regularly babysat from 2016-2019, gaining experience of caring for children of various ages.

I worked closely with, teaching and supporting young disabled riders. Empowering young people and helping to build their confidence was a very significant and rewarding part of my role. Through this I have had first aid and defibrillator training, as well as taking part in a Safeguarding workshop. As first aider in charge, I was always alert and safety conscious.

I pioneered events and activities to promote and encourage reading amongst S1-3 pupils. I organised and lead a World Book Day activity afternoon for the full S1 year group, where pupils dressed up and took part in reading-related quizzes and games. This was incredibly rewarding and I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with children and teachers to share my passion for reading.

Having trained for a year as a student midwife, I have gained experience and knowledge surrounding the care of babies. I am able to provide individualised, person-centred care and I am an effective communicator. Through the programme, I have had first aid training and have undergone education in Scottish Infection and Prevention Control Education Pathway (SIPCEP). I am a PVG scheme member.
