My Summary
About Me
Hi, I'm Lisa. I am an Outstanding rated Ofsted Registered Childminder. I am highly experienced in Early Years education and dedicated to giving children the best start in life.
I am situated within 13 minute walk from Angel station and 17 minute walk from Old Street station. Bus routes: 38, 73, 56, 476, 341 are within a 10 minute walk from Essex Road. Bus routes: 141, 21, 271 are within a 10 minute walk from New North Road.
My home is an open planned flat with a very large play room with child friendly furniture, chairs and tables. It has multiple activity areas that support the EYFS. These include a reading area, home corner and spaces for messy play, art, water, sand play and a small world and construction area. I am surrounded by lots of open spaces and parks which are accessed within the daily routine as outdoor learning is essential to a child's development.
I have a separate sleeping room so children are able to follow their own sleeping patterns away from their play environment.
I do not have a television, so no screen time. However, I play a range of music to the children and always encourage parents to tell me what music their children like.
I have extensive knowledge around child-led learning, scaffolding and schemas. I enable children to explore, make new discoveries, learn from mistakes and stay focused and determined to try new things. Awe and Wonder, I believe is a priority as it motivates and creates learning experiences which stay with children throughout their lives.
Each day involves both free choice and adult led activities. I use a visual timetable so children know what is happening within their day, this helps them to feel safe and understand routines. I have extensive knowledge in behaviour and emotional literacy. My resources help children to express, understand and regulate their feelings.
I am a member of Forest Childcare Association. I have a commitment to all year weekly outdoor adventures where children can explore nature and take risks.
I am very much into nature and conservation. All my household products are plant based and I provide healthy balanced organic vegetarian and vegan meals. I can supply menus on request.
My Experience
I have 28 years experience in Early Years Education. I have a B.Ed and part of my degree was a 6 month child study around All About Me, a project to support emotional literacy. I have extensive experience as a Key Worker working in partnership with parents, supporting children's interests and development and planning around all areas of the EYFS.
I worked at an Ofsted Outstanding Nursery for 19 years as a Nursery Education Officer. I worked within a diverse community where I gained knowledge and understanding of different cultures, faiths, parenting skills and special needs.
I have worked with Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Child Psychologists, Occupational Therapists
I worked 1:1 with a deaf, autistic child at Laycock Primary School Deaf Unit. I developed strategies around focus, boundaries, Attention Autism, PECS
I have experience in 'In the Moment Planning' where I develop children's interests and support their natural curiosity. This involves observing child initiated play and making sure enough provisions are in place to ensure a new skill can be learnt or practiced in each age range.

Our daughter Lola was with Lisa for 6 months from 14 months old, and we were blown away by how much she developed and learned in that time. Her apartment is perfectly set up for the kids to have free play, loads of different learning activities and also some personal touches like having all of our family photos on boards. The food she cooks is healthier than anything we could imagine which helped diversify Lola’s diet and took the pressure off us a bit! She really supported us as first time parents including helping us in choosing the right time to teach Lola self soothing when going down for sleep which was a complete game changer! We couldn’t have done it without her. They were out and about exploring London every day (even going on the overground to visit museums!), meeting up with fellow childminders and attending children’s centres which really helped build Lola’s confidence.
We moved out of London, but otherwise Lola would have likely been under Lisa’s care all the way to preschool, we are eternally grateful that we chose her to be Lola’s first childminder.
Lisa has taken care of our daughter for 12 months and throughout we have been extremely happy with the care that she has provided. We visited many childminders in our search for childcare and she was stand out for us. Her knowledge and experience was evident from the outset and we immediately felt comfortable leaving our daughter in her capable care.
Communication throughout has been excellent, with regular WhatsApp updates and taking the time to chat at drop offs and pickups. Lisa has been accommodating to any requests we had and to our daughters needs and schedules.
Her apartment had been expertly adapted to create a setting that is better than some purpose built nurseries! A visit is a must. There is plenty of space for play and activities, both of which are varied and have educational aspects from the EYFS creatively weaved into them. With lots of equipment and toys that aid both physical, mental and emotional development.
With multiple parks and playgrounds on the doorstep or near by, she is able to take the children out daily and regularly attends local classes and playgroups as well as meeting with a network of other childminders.
Lisa creates a safe and friendly environment that fosters independence, manners, sharing and caring for others. She impressively takes every opportunity to encourage the children's development.
Our daughter has enjoyed every moment as evidenced by the fact she feels safe and excited to visit each week. We've been amazed by the development we have witnessed over the past year and it is a testament to the care, activities and teaching provided. Thank you Lisa!
George & Sandra
Our son was with Lisa for a total of 13 months....and would have stayed longer except we moved house and were then too far away.
Through Lisa’s carefully planned activities, our son developed his understanding of the world, developed his confidence to explore, grew his gross and fine motor skills, learned to self-feed, and self soothe to sleep.
Under Lisa’s care, he learned the foundational life skills, alongside developing his cognitive and expressive skills, facilitated by activities involving counting and number, literacy, physical skills, water and sand area, expressive arts, cooking and outdoor trips.
He would come home singing new songs, showing a new confidence climbing, dancing and socialising with others. He started trying new foods and being more independent.
We were very impressed with the nutritious meals served....he would usually eat much better with Lisa than he did with us!...and all the values that encompassed the setting: diversity, respect for others, love of animals, music and art.
We are sure that these values have contributed for a more holistic education than he would have received in other settings, and we are very pleased they formed the foundation for our son’s future. We both work in primary school leadership and are experienced with what great child care provision looks like. We are very grateful for the quality of education in Lisa’s provision. Our son still talks about her, in-fact we will be going back to visit next week!

Thanks Jaqi,
It was an absolute pleasure to care for your son and be a part of his great journey in developing into such a wonderful, energetic, loving and caring child.
He also taught me a lot that I am so grateful for too!
