My Experience

I have worked for a year as an educational support assistant for 16-22 year olds with special educational needs and disabilities. I have also worked in a primary school with children who have special educational needs. I would take SEND students on work placements and would evidence the work experience with a document and photographs of the student working. I would support students in the kitchen classroom, where students would learn to cook. As a part of the students' college life, we would go into the community and visit locations around Manchester, this encouraged independence for the students. I created speech and language therapy (SALT) informed phonics interventions, to aid in teaching students how to read and write. I also had a week's worth of work experience in a nursery when I was 15, it could only be a week due to being in school at the time. This experience was with toddlers which involved handing out meals, supporting nap time, reading to them, and playing with toys. I am very used to working with children as I worked at Legoland Discovery Centre for 11 months while I was a student at this job it was important to ensure all children had fun there.
