About Me

Hey, I’m Anna and I am 23 years old. I am a BA Journalism student studying at University of the Arts London. I am a very compassionate, fun, reliable, bubbly and enthusiastic person; and I am passionate about caring for children as I find great joy in seeing them grow and develop into their own person.

I always make sure that children feel at ease with me by messing around with them and having fun, but also setting clear boundaries, so they have consistency and feel secure in their environment. This always brings out the best in the children I care for and means not only do I build up great relationships with the child/children I’m working with, but also their parents. I like to communicate with the parents and work as a team to ensure both the child/children, and parents, are happy with the work I’m doing, but also that the child/children, are developing in the best way they can.

Having 8 years experience as a babysitter/part-time nanny/full-time nanny and home-school helper, I know how to communicate with each individual child and tailor myself to their needs. This way I can have fun with them but also have them engage with me. As a younger person myself, the children I have cared for have always enjoyed my energy and enthusiasm; and loving exercise and the outdoors, I would always ensure that your child/children would get a great variety of exercise, in conjunction with, fun playdates/outings and creative activities too. My approach to looking after children nurtures their development and growth, as well as challenges them to try new things and explore the curiosities of the world.

Personally I enjoy both the countryside and the city, I spend my free time doing things I enjoy such as spending time with my friends and family, exercising, baking, filmmaking and editing, walking and trying new activities. I always like to see the positives in life and believe that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you should pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on; and you will reach your goals (big or small), in the end.

My Experience

Since I was 14 I have been caring for children, in a variety of roles, with several different families.
I have cared for children between the ages of 2-14.

I have babysat for a lot of different families, being used as a regular babysitter for all of them, until their children didn’t need babysitting anymore. Through my babysitting experience, I have looked after four children, from different families, with autism and/or ADHD (of varying levels), which taught me a lot about neurodiverse children. I was able to successfully communicate with the children and form a relationship with them (even in a short period of time), in which they trusted me; and could seek security and support.

I was a live-out nanny for a family with three children who were 7, 9 and 12. This post lasted for over a year and I got on with the family very well and am still in touch with them now.
In addition I have also looked after a family with three young girls, 6, 8 and 10, over a three-day period while the parents were away. This involved me taking them to and from school, helping with homework, cooking, cleaning and looking after their horses and dogs as well as having lots of fun with the girls on walks and undertaking creative activities.

Recently I was a full-time live in nanny for a 6-month old baby. I took care of him for 7 months helping him develop and grow his social skills during that time. Following that I was a part-time nanny for a 16-month old toddler. This post lasted just less than a year and I got along with the child and parents incredibly well: helping to nurture and support their little boy. I am still in touch with them now. My current job is with a lovely family in Surrey. I look after their two children of 9 and 4, doing wrap-around childcare and babysitting. I have a really great working and trusting relationship with both the children and parents; and I’ll be finishing with them sadly end of September following my move to London.

In addition to caring for children I have also had experience teaching them: this was a requirement of a previous nannying job. I did home-schooling with three children every day, in various different subjects of varying levels and had to manage all the children at once.
Two years ago, as part of work I did for a charity, I taught a young Syrian refugee girl (3 years) how to read, write and understand English, with the help of her school teachers, over just a few months. This taught me further skills in how to teach very young children and particularly ones that have no comprehension of the language at the start. Having a younger sister (15), who has autism and ADHD, I have cared for her since she was a new-born baby, feeding her, helping her sleep, educating her, and now she is older, taking her to school or assisting her with her online learning.

This variety of experience I have had over many years, means I am versatile and able to work and care for children of any age and help them to develop and grow in the best way possible.
