About Me

Hello, my name is Charlotte. I was born here in the U.K. but moved to Ireland as a child (it is hard to pinpoint my accent as a result!)

I am a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where I studied Theology. I am a trained teacher and obtained my PGDE at The University of Edinburgh.

I believe that in order for my young students to reach their full potential they first need to gain a strong foundation in reading and phonics. I am especially good at preparing children for the Year 1 Phonics screening test. I have also worked in Key Stages 1 and 2 so also have a good understanding of expectations across the primary curriculum.

I favour responsive planning, addressing learners strengths and their weaknesses. This allows me to consolidate learning when it is needed and to provide challenges when children can be pushed further. It is a great pleasure for me to see their progress.

I teach my students the golden rule “treat others as you would like to be treated” and aim to be kind and respectful to everyone. I am patient with my pupils and like to incentivise good learning behaviour through agreed reward systems.

I like amateur drama, music, reading and learning about new cultures. I like swimming and hiking and enjoy going to museums and art galleries. I love showing my students how interesting these places can be.
