Hi, I’m Emily! I’m a 22-year-old Speech and Language Therapist based in Harrogate. I hold an enhanced DBS check, First Aid training, and I’m qualified to administer Buccal Midazolam for epilepsy. I also have Level 1 British Sign Language and have completed several courses focused on safeguarding and supporting children’s mental wellbeing.
I’m passionate about helping children feel safe, understood, and happy. I love making playtime fun and meaningful, drawing on my background in speech and language development. I also enjoy singing, playing the trumpet and piano, and bringing creativity into the day. I’m active too – I love swimming, hiking, and running, and enjoy keeping little ones engaged and moving.
My Experience
I’ve worked with children across a variety of settings and needs. Before qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist, I worked as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, supporting children with Autism and Epilepsy. I’ve also babysat for local families and am a carer for my older brother, who has Down syndrome — giving me strong, hands-on experience in adapting care to suit individual needs.
Alongside this, I’ve completed safeguarding and mental wellbeing training to help support children’s emotional and physical safety. I also volunteer with the Salvation Army, helping to run their weekly children’s group, which involves crafts, singing, dancing, and lots of energy!
I’ve taught swimming to children aged 5+ and always bring enthusiasm and adaptability to my childcare. I also tutor trumpet, piano and I love singing in choirs. I aim to make every child feel seen, heard, and supported. Please feel free to get in touch — I’d love to help support your family.
