About Me
Hi my name is Nicky, I have varied and vast experience of both caring for and teaching children from Early Years to KS2. I am a fully qualified Early Years Teacher, with a post graduate qualification in Early Years Education. My degree is in Children’s Development and Learning (0-11 years) . Previously, I was a childminder for 16 years before pursuing my teaching career. I have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren, who I adore and am very much involved with. I am DBS checked.
My Experience
I have been teaching for 18 years, in early years and KS1/2.. Before training to be a teacher I was a childminder for 16 years while my children were small. I have been tutoring, on a 1-2-1 basis, either in the child's home or at Building Blocks Private Tutoring (formerly, Little Angels Life Lessons) for 4 years. I’m based in Fords Farm, Reading.
I absolutely love working with children, the most rewarding job in the world and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am passionate about outdoor learning and learning through play in a multisensory way. I worked for Path Hill Outdoors (2Wild), as a woodlands party leader for several years too. I also have experience working for Home-Start UK as a volunteer.
My Qualifications
Early Years Teacher qualification, from Reading University. Post Graduate Certificate in Early Years Education, also from Reading University. I have a BA Hons degree in Children's Development and Learning, (0-11 years) Forest School training. Safeguarding and many other courses attended relating to education. NVQ 3 in Assisting Teaching and Learning.
My Availability
I am semi retired, filling my time with supply teaching, tutoring and caring part time for grandchildren.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £18.00 per hour
- Tutoring from £28.00 per hour
Starting from £18 an hour, depending on position and location. 1-2-1 tutoring in your own home is £32.00 an hour. Tutoring rates at Building Blocks Private Tutoring, start at 28.00 per hour. I plan sessions specifically for your child's needs/abilities, making the sessions engaging and fun where possible. All resources, planning time, travel and expenses are included.
