Job title: Personal Assistant
Location: Weymouth
Hours: 5 hrs on Saturday or Sunday once a month
School Holidays – 2 mornings a week

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive personal assistant to spend time and support an 11-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and autism in wider community and in the home environment (where appropriate). He requires 1-1 support and is a full-time wheelchair user. This role involves assisting with personal care, mealtimes, medication management, and emotional regulation while engaging the child in social outings and interactions. Along with planning outings and activities that meet the 11-year-olds needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Accompany the child into the wider community, including outings to cinema, bowling, cafes, Sand world and other local attractions.
2. Assist with personal care routines such as toileting, ensuring the child's comfort and dignity.
3. Support the child during mealtimes, including feeding assistance, making sure the food is the appropriate size and monitoring for gagging issues.
4. Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and document accurately.
5. Use effective communication and behavioural management techniques to help the child navigate emotions and sensory stimuli in various environments.
6. Foster social skills development by facilitating interactions with peers and community members.
7. Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times, including during transportation and outdoor activities.
8. Collaborate with the child's family to implement individualized support strategies.
9. Stay attuned to the child's needs and preferences, adapting plans and activities accordingly.
10. Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the child and his family.

Qualifications:

1. Experience working with children with cerebral palsy and autism or similar disabilities in community settings is desirable.
2. Knowledge of adaptive equipment and techniques for assisting with personal care and mobility.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with children and caregivers.
4. Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanour when supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management.
5. Ability to follow safety protocols and respond calmly and decisively in emergency situations.
6. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
7. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
8. Background check and references required.

Working Conditions:

- This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends based on community activities.
- The assistant will accompany the child in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different environments and weather conditions.
- Some activities may require physical assistance and supervision
