My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Jess.
I am 23 years old and have worked in childcare for 5 years, currently based in a childcare setting. I love my job and knew from a young age that childcare is where my career was meant to be! I am a creative person who likes to be imaginative with activities to aid learning, using lots of messy play and real materials in play. I have experience of caring for children from 3 months to 5 years professionally, but am also part of a big family with many younger cousins to help look after.
I am a trustworthy, reliable, and punctual individual. I am hardworking and take pride in the work I do, especially when children achieve new milestones. I will always put my best efforts into the work I do to ensure the children in my care are looked after and receive the best opportunities to develop and learn, and in a safe environment. Importantly I make sure that they have fun! I enjoy being outdoors and visiting new and exciting places. I am organised and like to help out where needed to ensure the children’s environment is maintained and a place they have space to play!
I have grown up in a large family with a younger brother and many young cousins, who now range from 2 years to 15 years old. I often help care for my cousins, taking them on trips out and creating new activities for them. I knew from a young age that childcare is where I belonged and I have always loved being around and working with children. Building relationships with children, as well as their parents and families, is very important to me. I enjoy the ability of being able to teach a child new skills and watch them achieve a new milestone; it is a great sense of achievement for me.
I am NVQ Level 3 qualified in childcare and hold a full, valid DBS check. I am paediatric first aid trained. I hold a full clean UK divers license and I have my own car. I am also a non-smoker and I am covid-19 vaccinated.
I am looking to take a new step in my career as a nanny and hope my years of experience will assist in this.
My Experience
I started off in the childcare sector when I was 17. After a few weeks work experience at a local nursery near to my college, it was confirmation to me that this is where my career is meant to be. I then started my job in a nursery setting and began my studies towards my level 3 qualification which I achieved in 2021 (due to a short delay as a result of Covid lockdown). I have gained a lot of valuable experience and many skills that have made me the professional I am today. I have worked with the baby room, toddler room and pre-school room, so have been able to help care for a variety of age groups.
I have also done lots of babysitting for families in my local area who have ranged from newborn to 15 years. I have experience of working with children with autism and children with medical needs and allergies or dietary requirements. I have a full uk driving license and my own car. I am comfortable with taking the children outside of the home and to places further away in the car, to allow them to explore new environments and seek new play opportunities.
I am currently in my 5th year of working within a nursery setting. I was previously based in a nursery in Hampton Court, which is a forest school. After gaining my level 3 qualification, I decided it was time for a new challenge and moved to a nursery which is much bigger in size and has brought me lots of new opportunities. My time at my current nursery setting has helped me continue to gain confidence, skills and knowledge that make me the best practitioner I can be. I believe childcare to be such a rewarding job, where I am able to support children's development, encourage their learning and ensure their needs are met. I strive to create and provide new and exciting activities everyday to support children's development.
