About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder and qualified teacher living in St Neot with my husband, teenage children and two dogs. Being a childminder is a long-held dream which I planned many years ago when we purchased The Old School in St Neot. Unfortunately, the renovation project took longer than expected so I had to put my plans on hold. However, in the meantime, I went to uni and completed my degree and teaching qualifications, gaining valuable experience with a variety of ages in Early Years, Primary and Secondary. Now it's time to return to my initial calling - to be home-based and take advantage of the freedom which accompanies this style of childcare.
At Bluebells Childminding, I will be encouraging the children to explore our local areas to experience the vast and tiny natural wonders that are so readily available to us here in this part of Cornwall. We will discover new 'happy' places that serve to develop questioning and inquisitive attitudes to our surroundings. I will support the children to use language and art to express their experiences in a meaningful way using my background in art and teaching to facilitate and guide.
Whilst at home, there will be plenty of cuddles, relaxation and quiet time balanced with adult-led activities and free-play. My home has designated indoor and outdoor play areas which only the Bluebells children use; this is equipped with a wide variety of educational toys, crafts and role-play areas to be explored in the comfort of a home from home environment. There are plenty of relaxation spaces and hideaway corners for your child to find calm.
Muffin and Boris are my two friendly dogs who will sometimes accompany us on our walks around our local National Trust gardens, woodlands, beaches, rivers and lakes! The beautiful Doorstep Green in our village will be our afterschool destination most days for a quick picnic, dip in the river and fun in the park. We will be visiting The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and The Eden Project with our annual passes too; both attractions are educational, fun and full of species from around the world for my little Bluebells to marvel at and explore!
My Experience
Whilst completing my degree in Education Studies, I worked for 5 years as a Teaching Assistant supporting children with special needs or complex behaviour before securing a role as a Preschool Manager for a year. Following this, I completed my qualifications to become a teacher and taught 8-12 year olds across Primary and Secondary settings. I have some experience with private tutoring at KS2 level and have raised my own children.

My Availability
I am available Monday to Thursday from 7.30am to 5.30pm during term time and school holidays (own family holidays may fall within school holidays).

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
My fees include all additional healthy snacks and drinks. A voluntary contribution of £4 per child per day is requested to contribute towards outings, special treats and annual attraction fees.
